Universal Design for Learning (UDL): In order to address all students’ learning in this lesson, I would ensure
that ELL students had a rubric translated into their native language. I would consider learning challenges, and
pair students up to help each other twice during the workweek so that students can scaffold off of each other,
and spread their knowledge. This project will be done completely in class so there access available for each
student.
Lesson idea implementation: Students will be introduced into Georgia History at the beginning of the
semester and learn about all of the significant figures mentioned in the standard throughout the semester. As
a final project, the students will be given the option to create a Bubbl.us concept map their favorite historical
figure taught during the semester. Teachers will walk students through the procedures to use Bubbl.us and
create an example on a historical figure that isn’t an option so there is no plagiarism.
The project should take about a week, working twenty minutes per day during class. There will be a rubric
provided clearly stating all necessary components. Students must complete at least twelve separate bubbles
on their map. There will be three categories they must address: life, contributions/legacy, and fun facts. In
order to encourage higher order thinking students will also incorporate differences in the time period in
which the chosen figure lived and the time period of another figure listed lived. This will allow students to
think more in depth. The teacher will be available to help with anything the students may need during the
work time period, and will offer as much feedback as possible. The lesson will be concluded by a short
summary presentation by each student.
Reflective Practice: This lesson will allow teachers, parents, and students to see that students retained the
knowledge given during the semester, not just for the exams. There are multiple technology tools that could

be used to further enhance this project. For example, the student could use a microphone to create a voice
over of the bubbl.us document.
