“Xiao Time: Ang Unang Sigaw ng Himagsikan sa Balintawak, Kalookan”

Answer the following questions:

1. What does the video tell you about the many different accounts?
Answer:
The video simply shows the overlapping and uncoordinated records of the
historians about the first cry of the revolution where they stated different accounts of cry
of the revolution that Andres Bonifacio and his men took the journey over Balintawak,
Kangkong, Pugad Lawin, Bahay Toro, and so on.
As I dig deep into the topic, I saw an article where Santiago Alvarez, a
Katipunero and son of Mariano Alvarez who was the leader of the Magdiwang faction in
Cavite stated in 1927 that the first cry of revolution happened at Bahay Toro in August
24, 1896 where Tandang Sora resides and she decided to throw a festival for
approximately 1000 individuals. After the occurrence, Bonifacio decided to call for a
meeting where Emilio Jacinto, and Pio Valenzuela attended which they established
eventually the Pamahalaang Mapanghimagsik where Bonfacio became the President.

2. Is there a chance that all sources are valid?

Answer:
No, if we are talking about the chance that all sources are valid, the answer is
absolutely NO as their records are not coordinated with other historians and the sources
they take from publishing their records are inaccurate. They need a primary source or
witness such as Santiago Alvarez who is a member of Katipunan which can solidify their
accounts about the first cry of revolution.

3. What other information on the revolution did you learn from the video?
Answer:
All I know about Tandang Sora where our history teachers before taught us is that
she just help wounded Katipuneros but I just know right at this moment after watching
the video is that the place where she reside is the place where the first cry of the
revolution happened. I did not know also that she is pretty wealthy at that time, throwing
a festival for approximately 1000 individuals do take hefty sum of money from her side.
I do take a salute for Bonifacio for making extra effort in reaching Katipuneros in
different places as he stand strongly in pressure, doubt, and thoughts about his plan in
standing face-to-face with the Spaniards. I’m amazed how history keeps unfolding
overtime as I learn through my collegiate years.
