RE: Requesting a meeting

Dear, Representative Moore:

I am Ricaria Miller, CEO of a nonprofit organization called Limitless Dance Creatives. I
have lived in your district for 13 years. Limitless Dance Creatives supports the community by
hosting annual performances that include disabled and able-bodied people to showcase their
talents through dance, music, and visual art. Our goal is to induce society’s perception of dance
and disability as well as fundraise for better resources.
I’d like a meeting with an elected official to advocate for passage of a piece of legislation
to discuss the Arts Education for All Act. Limitless Dance Creatives has assisted in bringing my
family closer together. I have a twelve-year-old daughter who was diagnosed with autism at the
age of three. She used to be nonverbal, only making sound effects. Limitless Dance Creatives not
only helped my daughter evolve verbally but this organization has helped other individuals
because through our classes they are being stimulated. We have structured schedules which helps
keep our students on track and we make sure they are in a safe space while learning.
In closing, I wish to meet with you on Limitless Dance Creatives behalf and wish to
discuss how my organization can be an asset to the community.

Sincerely,

Ricaria Miller

Advocacy Message:

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me this afternoon. I'd want to speak with

you about why it's important to promote and vote yes to the support of Arts Education for All

Acts.  The nonprofit arts and culture industry has a substantial economic influence in North

Carolina, generating $2.12 billion in revenue. Governor Kim Reynolds claims that investing

in the arts and culture improves the quality of life, and I agree. People will go by any means

necessary to witness the arts. Of the arts drive tourism, 64.6 percent indicated that the primary

purpose of their visit was to attend arts and cultural events. This clearly highlights the

importance of the arts in attracting visitors to a community. I support this act because arts

education is said to improve critical thinking, memory, and even mathematical skills. Arts

education is something that kids actively want to be a part of, and I believe it is critical to

advocate on their behalf. Arts education is valuable because it imparts knowledge, transforms

lives, provides a creative outlet, and is visually beautiful.

Arts Education for All Acts has personally aided me throughout my childhood and

adulthood. I've been involved with the arts for more than 19 years and continue to support it.

Arts education is a way of life, not just a thing to do. Participating in arts education has aided in

my development as an entrepreneur. My nonprofit organization, Limitless Dance Creatives, is

managed by myself, and my children are also participating. I am adamant in my belief that the

Arts Education for All Act is vital to our community. After speaking with a few of my students, I

discovered that Arts Education had aided them in staying out of trouble.

It has benefited them in coping with their emotions and learning how to comprehend and

express themselves in a positive and creative manner; it allows them to understand what they are

experiencing and use it constructively in their crafts rather than negatively. These stories, I feel,
are the reason why art education is still relevant today. Arts education has given me a sense of

belonging, and I am confident that I have a place in the arts.
