Intended Outcome

The overall outcome for my trailer is to create fear in the audience that will be watching it. The brief
from Fresh Cut Crea ve has stated that the trailer must explore the deepest fears. The fear I have chosen
is murder and or being chased in order to be killed. I have conducted focus groups and surveys to see if
this is a common fear among my target audience, and it turns out that it is.
Intended audience
The brief says that my target audience is teenagers. I created surveys and focus groups to get a be er
understanding of my audience before lming began. I also applied a 15 age ra ng to my lm a er
reasrching the BBFC and its rules and regula ons. This allows some threat, violence and danger, while
not marganalising the majority of the teenage demographic. Gender will be neutral, because I do not
want to just pick a gender and focus on it, I want it to be available for all. I will try my best to appeal to
my target audience because they said they liked horror, given the theme of horror, I think this goes hand
in hand. So horror loving teens are going to be my main focus!

Treatment
A focus on supernatural horror, my lm is based around many fears. The main fear being the
supernatural, things like ghosts and spirits.
The trailer would focus on a teenage girl (so immediately rela ng to our teenage audience through a
character in which they can relate closely too). I chose a female because I think that I can write that
be er and apply my own experiences to it, to give it a fresh female perspec ve in a male dominated
genre. The teenage girl would be su ering from mental health and depression, which can also lead to
anxiety. These would be the second fear that I would be exploring, the decline of mental health and the
poten al damage that can have mentally and physically.
The teenage girl would be an outcast of sorts, not having many friends and having a struggling home life
with poten ally abusive parents. Because of the triggering nature of this and the age ra ng I am working
within, this would all be implied and not shown explicitly.
The trailer would start with her in a dark bedroom, with voices surrounding her “you’re not good
enough, nobody likes you”. These are self image and body image concerns for many teenage girls, so this
could be a thrid fear, and a relatable gateway for teens to link to the main character. The main character
would then feature in a montage where they are picked on at school and can overhear her parents
arguing and gh ng at home.
We would then see a close up of a razor blade next to her wrist in an extreme close up shot. The shot
holds and when we come out we see a demonic gure standing behind her. This implies that her dark
thoughts are possessing her and making her do harm to her body and mind.
The demonic gure will then be seen following her around at college and outside her house, and she is
unsure as to wether she is the only one that can see it or not, as nobody else around her can be seen
reac ng to it when it is on screen.
The trailer will feature quick cuts of the girl running and gh ng the demon, with some jump scares
mixed in because my target audience said they liked those. The trailer would end on a cli anger, as I
believe that this is a narra ve conven on, as it makes the audience want to come and see it more.

Legal and Ethical Considera ons

Permissions:
I will de nitely need permission to lm in the loca ons that I have in mind, I will contact them well
before lming begins. I will also need permission from my actors to lm them, this is where I will
complete model release forms.
Health and safety:
I will visit and assess every loca on I use, I will complete a risk assessment every me and if the place is
not suitable I will change the loca on completely.
Commercial clearance:
I will not be able to use any copyright material, this means that I cannot use music, clips from other
pieces of media, include brands or designs. I will keep this in mind when crea ng props and thinking of
the soundtrack. To combat this, I will ensure I use copyright free music and sound e ects from YouTube
or websites dedicated to providing these.
Plagiarism:
My trailer is an original idea, no other ideas have been used when crea ng this. I will not plagiarize
anything when crea ng or planning the trailer otherwise this could lead to legal trouble.
Produc on Plans and Timeline
Planning
Every produc on needs a pre-produc on stage, this is where I will complete all my paperwork. I will
begin this on Monday 14th March and will run for around a week, or un l I complete everything (this
could be before the end of the week). The things I will need are
• Storyboard
• Shot list
• Risk assessment
• Loca on forms
Filming will begin promptly once all pre-produc on is completed and the cast and crew are prepped as
to what we will be doing.
Loca ons
The college will be the main bulk of the lming; therefore, it should be accessible for everyone to get to
and from. It will also be shot during college me, meaning everyone will be here anyway. Loca ons will
be in and around the college.
Resources
• Filming equipment will be taken from the college and booked out using the equipment forms
(camera, tripod)

Distribu on Plans
When conduc ng primary research, I found out that most of my demographic used YouTube, meaning
that would probably be the most suitable distribu on, I will upload all my work there and then share it
across social media to reach a wider audience. YouTube is free, easy to use, and it can be watched on
mobile phones (something my target audience brought up in the focus group). Since it is free to use and
easy to access, it should be the most convenient and easiest way to watch the trailer in my opinion.
