In my crea ve project, I have drawn RCMP o cers taking oath at the Depot. The RCMP o cers
that I have drawn each represent from a di erent background such the Muslim lady, Sikh male,
and white male. The reason I chose to make this art piece was to represent the mul culturalism
and diversity in Canada. We have learned this in class regarding the mul culturalism policy.
Despite the o cers having di erent religious backgrounds and wearing their religious symbols
such as the turban and hijab they are given equal opportuni es. This piece was inspired from
my cousins RCMP gradua on, where in his class there were o cers from di erent religious
backgrounds. This piece was also inspired by the ar cle we looked at in class about Baltej Singh
Dhillon who is an RCMP o cer that had di cul es becoming one due to his religious symbols.
He was told that in order to be accepted in the RCMP, he must remove his turban and shave his
beard, but he fought in court to keep his turban and beard. Because of him he had opened
opportuni es for individuals from di erent backgrounds to apply for the RCMP. The art piece I
have created I had used markers and pencil crayons. The reason I chose to use this approach
was because this was easier for me to portray my ideas onto paper.

Crea ng this art project, I had some challenges but mostly because I am not a skilled drawer. To
overcome this challenge, I had looked into YouTube videos and watched how I can draw body
gures and what techniques to use with the pencil. I had also referred to my art pieces and
notes that I had created in the past during high school in my art class.

In this project I was somewhat successful, the idea I wanted to get across I feel that executed it
successfully but the drawing itself I could have created it be er.

Crea ng this art piece, I did not learn as much as it was mostly similar to something I have done
in the past, such as in my art class in high school.

As I men oned earlier, I did not learn as much during the process of my art piece, but if I were
to create this art project again in the future the materials that I would use would be di erent.
Instead of using pencil crayons I would try using water colours. To be honest I do not see myself
doing other crea ve work in the future.
