or cell sites)

TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATION

INFRASTRUCTURES IN NCR
There are two kinds of major thoroughfares found in
NCR: the Circumferential Road and the Radical
Road.
1. Circumferential Road – is a long, arch shaped
road. It consists five main roads known as C1
to C5. These are located around NCR and
connect its cities and municipality.
2. Radial Road – consists of ten long roads that
are along Manila and reaches the different
cities and municipality in NCR.
The Radial Road shortens the travel time of people
from Manila to nearby cities and municipalities, such
as Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Batangas.

There are also important bridges that connect various

places in NCR. The Jones Bridge and Quezon Bridge
in Manila are bridges that cross the Pasig River.

Airports and ports are also important infrastructures

in the region. The biggest and most modern airport in
the country is located in NCR. It is the Ninoy Aquino
International Airport or NAIA in the cities of
Paranaque and Pasay.
 2. Energy supply (dams, utility or transmission
poles, and power plants and oil depots)

INFRASTRUCTURES FOR ENERGY AND

WATER SUPPLY
Water and electricity play an important role in our
lives at present. There are a few power plants that
supply electricity in communities in NCR, such as
the Valuenzela Solar Power Plant and TMO Oil-
Based Power Plant in the City of Navotas.
The La Mesa Dam in Quezon City is the only
dam or reservoir in the region. It supplies water to
some cities in NCR.
The Angat-Ipo-La Mesa water system supplies
water to residents of Metro Manila and nearby
provinces.
3. Health and Education (schools, universities
hospitals, and offices)
According to the Department of Education (DepEd),
there are 517 public schools for elementary level and
247 for high school in the region. There are also big
buildings for private schools, and universities.

There are also health centers for medical needs of the

people in Metro Manila. There are clinics, health
centers, and hospitals that provide care for the sick.
Some of the well-known public hospitals in the
region are the Philippine General Hospital (PGH)
and Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital in Manila
4.Commerce (supermarket, super malls, and other
establishment)

There are a lot of markets and supermalls in the

region. Some of the popular markets in NCR are the
Marikina Public Market.

5.Importance of Infrastructures in the Economy of

NCR
The infrastructures constructed by the government
and private companies in NCR are essential. These
buildings and facilities help a lot in improving the
livelihood and economy of the cities and
municipality in the region.

The increase in the number of big establishments in

cities and municipality of NCR shows the country’s
active economy.
This means that as the number of businesses in the
region increases, more jobs become available to the
people. Businesses help the region and the country to
achieve progress.
