Self-Evaluation

After completing the necessary work with the student, I was able to determine Oliver’s

strengths and weaknesses. The student actively participates in class and is always willing to learn

new things. He has very healthy relationships with classmates and loves to socialize. The student

is able to identify familiar words with ease. When presented with challenging words, he becomes

less confident and tends to ask what the word says instead of working it out himself. When

writing, the student has legible handwriting, but often fails to punctuate. While trying to spell

difficult words, the student immediately asks for assistance. When asked to spell words orally or

on paper, the student tends to use phonetic spelling. These literacy assessments presented to

Oliver allowed me to examine many areas of his learning. Thanks to these assessments, I am

now able to construct appropriate goals for the student to meet.
