TSWBAT use speaking and listening techniques while working - Make sure they understand that when the directions say, “give detail” that

Materials:
“Scavenger Hunt” assessment (6 copies)
Pen/pencil Tell students that they are not to separate from the group at any time

Clarify that we will NOT be buying the items listed on the scavenger hunt

Encourage students to use the mall directory when they are looking for stores

Emphasize the importance of clear communication between group partners

Students will have a set amount of time to finish their scavenger hunts

At noon, we will meet in the food court for lunch


- Students can buy food on their own

Proceed with the scavenger hunt after lunch

When the scavenger hunt is complete, students can explore the mall with their
partners until it is time to leave

If the student has enough money and it is all right with their parents, they are
allowed to buy items in the mall with their own money during this time

Assessment:
Students will complete the “Scavenger Hunt” assessment

Students will exhibit clear communication skills and listening techniques while
Reflection:

Students performed well on this outing. They stayed with assigned partners and completed all questions on the scavenger hunts. It was
difficult to pair students up because I try to have different partners every time. I also wanted to have groups that would communicate with
each other and have an enjoyable time. These groups were appropriate sizes and had an adult supervisor. Students were hesitant to ask
employees for assistance. I believe this will need to be confronted in future lessons. ST got ahead of his group a few times. Perhaps develop a
lesson about patience.
