Pre-assessment of current knowledge: Before completing the lesson, I will create a list of objects and items that the students believe they would find
outside. This will get students to think visually of the different components of nature.

During the lesson everyone will receive a bag to take on the
nature walk. This will allow students to put their items they
find in a safe space. I will then hand out color sheets of
paper for students to put their objects on to create a collage.
I will then collect the collage from everyone to see that all
the students have made their own creative artwork.
Program Monitoring: (How will you aggregate or compile
your evidence into a class or group view?)
I will regularly ask students how their collage is going and if
they need any additional help. I will ask students to explain
what objects they found that stood out to them.
Differentiation:
For students who do not know what a collage is I will provide
examples on the board and for students who need help
concentrating outside with an objective I will monitor them
with their buddy to make sure they stay on task.
Academic Language:

Procedural steps:
1. First, I would start by discussing how there are many
things to explore in nature such as animals, insects,
plants, grass, sticks, etc.
2. I will then explain to the class that we will be going on
a nature walk around the school and collecting items
to make a collage.
3. Next, I will pair each student with a buddy so that
everyone can stay together.
4. Each person will receive a grocery bag to take on
their walk with them. The walk will be 15 minutes to
give everyone enough time to explore.
5. After 15 minutes the class will come inside and pick
up a piece of color paper that they would like to work
with.
6. Then I will give each student glue or tape so that they
can put their items down on the paper.
7. Students can be creative and choose whatever way
they would like to present their nature items.
8. Once the class has finished, I will have them share
their collages with a group and explain to their
classmates why they chose the items they did.
9. The final step of collaborating shows that everyone’s
minds are their own and that the process of creating
artwork can be done in many ways.

Adult Roles:
As the teacher I will make sure to walk outside with the
students and have them stick together. It is important that I
designate an area to do the nature work to keep everyone
safe.
