- While students’ finger puppets should not look
uniform, they should at least somewhat resemble
the characters in Little Red Riding Hood.
- An accurate play will tell me they understood the
story.
Program Monitoring: (How will you aggregate or compile
your evidence into a class or group view?)
- The teacher will take a video of the student’s acting
and send it to parents.
- The teacher will also collect the finger puppets and
display them in the classroom.

Procedural steps:
1. With students sitting around the carpet, read Little
Red Riding Hood by Candice Ransom
2. Have students sit at their table groups and pass out
materials. Gloves should be precut. Every student
will get a finger from a glove. Shared materials
include glue, various colors of felt, googly eyes,
buttons, glitter sticks, scissors, and yarn.
3. Students will assemble finger puppets. The finger
puppets should be characters from Little Red Riding
Hood. The teacher will assign every student a
character, and there will be multiples of characters.
The teacher will walk around, making sure students
are on task, and also assisting any students who
may need help.
4. When the finger puppets are assembled, students
will act out the story of the Little Red Riding Hood
behind a puppet theater. The students who are not
participating in this round will be the audience.
5. For the post-activity discussion, students will gather
around the carpet again. They will be asked the
moral of the story, as well as be asked to make
comparisons to people and events in their own lives.
