think we have a great team this year and I feel like our team chemistry is already growing so
strong. I have many goals for our team this year. Obviously I want our team to win every game
and our team to be competitive in the state tournament, that would be absolutely amazing, but
my biggest intention as your captain pertains to all of you individually and something more
important. Many of you know that me and Lauren play basketball and we both can agree that this
was definitely the roughest basketball season we have had. Basketball for me has become an
emotional rollercoaster and it extremely damaged my confidence on the court. The team
chemistry was terrible this year. Girls on the team would end up blaming each other for mistakes
or for losses. I’ve played basketball my whole life and have always loved it, but recently fell out
of love with it these past couple of years. And this year on the lacrosse team, I know we have a
lot of new girls on the team. I want you guys to know that I know practices and games can be
tough, but I want you to remember that you are doing this sport for FUN! Yes, lacrosse is meant
to be competitive but it is not supposed to be stressful and anxiety ridden. As a leader on this
team and hopefully as your captain, I never want you guys to feel how I felt playing basketball.
Lacrosse, for me, is more than just a sport, it’s an escape. We all struggle with hardships in life,
but lacrosse should not be one of them. I want our team chemistry to be great. I want you all to
be able to come to practice, step on the field, and feel safe and excited to be around the girls you
love while playing the sport you love. I also know a lot of pressure can be put on you guys,
because we are all essentially competing for playing time. This, unfortunately, is inevitable. I
have talked with Coach about this and have talked with her about implementing one practice a
week or even a fraction of practice every so often where we can play stressless games like
lacrosse baseball, lacrosse golf, do relay races, and other drills and games of the sort that you
guys like. I think days like this can really give everyone a nice fun break and remind everyone
that we are all here to have fun, while still having some friendly competition. In addition, I can
promise the continuation of themed practices on a designated day each week. As your team
captain I will be your guys' biggest supporter, in addition to holding all of you accountable on
and off the field. I will lead by example and will never ask you to do something that I wouldn’t
do. I can promise to always be energetic, enthusiastic, and to always be cracking jokes at the
right time (and the wrong time) and I hope you guys will honor me with your vote for team
