FUNCTIONS, ROLES, AND SKILLS OF A MANAGER (Explained in Taglish by Sir RDS)

Bilang isang manager marami kang tasks and roles na kailangan iperform and you need to possess
certain skills para magampanan mo ito.

MANAGERIAL LEVELS

♟TOP-LEVEL MANAGERS- They are the general or strategic managers who focus on long-term
organizational concerns and emphasize the organization’s stability, progress, and overall efficiency and
effectiveness.

So from the term itself sila yung nasa tuktok ng tagumpay hahaha kidding aside they ar managers na
who will oversee ang pangkalahatan at pangkabuuang operation ng business. Sila yung mga tinatawag
nating Chief Operating Officers (COO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Company Presidents and Vice
Presidents. Ayan malay mo someday ikaw na ang susunod. 😀 I will give specific examples pagkatapos ko
i-discuss yunng tatlo. Okay?

♟MIDDLE-LEVEL MANAGERS - are tactical managersin charge of the organization’s middle level or
departments.

Based on the goals set by top level managers, yung mga middle-level managers will formulate specific
objectives to be implemented. So dapat creative ka dito kasi you arevto decide what exactly what to do
para ma-achieve ang goals ng company. Examples of middle-level managers are department heads,
regional directors, and area managers. Again, malay mo someday maging middle-level manager ka din
and eventually ma-reach mo ang top. Oo top ka! Haha

♟LOWER-LEVEL MANAGERS - are also known as operational managers and frontline managers. They are
responsible for supervising the organization’s day-to-day activities; they are the bridges between the
management and non-management employees.

Yes frontline, meaning sila yung mga managers who directly nag-iimplement ng mga directions set by
the higher level managers. Sila yung kaharap mismo ng mga customers at ng mga empleyado. And if I
may say, the success of the implementation to reach a goal depends on them.

EXAMPLE: Ako po ay nagtrabaho sa isang fastfood chain during my college days for 4years until I got
promoted for a managerial and accounting position for additional four years. ( di ko sasabihin pero
paparappaa love ko to haha) As a lower level manager naobserve ko how this is working. For example
may ilalaunch na bagong product. Top level managers will set a goal a 5% increase in sales and guest
counts (dami ng customer) because of the new product. Area Managers (may handle ng certain number
of stores) will assign a target per stores na hawak nila, they will provide trainings among stores and
provide a project brief on how to implement the objectives. Karaniwan sa naguundergo ng trainings
muna ay ang mga reoresentative operations managers. After that yung operations managers pagadating
sa kani kanilang specific stores they are the one who will provide trainings sa mga employee, mabibigay
ng targets (kaya minsan tatanungin ka ng cashier, maam/sir baka po gusto nyo mag add ng apple pie?
Medium size na po ang coke at kung ano ano pa haha) ieensure din nila na in place ang posters,
marketing materials atbp. They will also conduct customer relations para sa feedback ng customers.
They got rewarded if nahihit nila ang target dahil pag naachive ng bawat store ang target, naachieve na
din ng overall company ang goals. Hooray for today! ❤️

MANAGERIAL ROLES

🖊Parang artista lang noh? As manager marami tayong role na ginagampanan almost all everyday. Ito ay
ang pagiging leader, liason (nakikipag-ugnayan maaring sa customer, suppliers o government agency) ,
figurehead (representative ng company), spokesperson, monitor, disseminator (tagapagpalaganap ng
impormasyon), disturbance handler (pag may conflict sya ang namamagitan), resource allocator
( budgeting), negotiator and entrepreneur. Ang dami di ba??Ready ka na ba? Wag ka mag alala, marami
sa mga companies provide training para ma-perform mo ang mga role na iyan. 😀

MANAGERIAL SKILLS

📍CONCEPTUAL SKILLS- enable managers to think possible solutions. As a manager dapat mabilis at
magaling ang decision-making mo. You see the overall organization and yung effect ng bawat nangyayari
sa business. Sir parang ang hirap po ata? Yes. Eh paano po gagawin para magkaroon ng ganyan? Expose
yourself. Wag matakot magkamali. Always try something new. Experience will make you wiser. ❤️

📍HUMAN SKILLS- enables managers to relate well with people. Oo, with people. Kailangan marunong
makipag kapwa at makisama. If you go along well with your people mas madali mo silang ma-lead. Eh sir
paano po ako introvert ako, ayoko masyado nakikisalamuha sa tao? Being a manager does not require
you na dapat ma-PR ka, advantage nila yun but being respectful to your subordinates kahit tauhan mo
sila will go a long way. Simply calling them by name, saying please and thank you sapat na yun.
Eventually ma-gain mo ang respect nila without pressuring or changing yourself. 😀

📍TECHNICAL SKILLS- important for managers for them to perform their tasks with proficiency with the
use of their expertise. Kung nagmamanage ka ng isang welding shop, dapat marunong ka mag welding,
yung mga managers sa fastfood they are being trained muna sa mga crew positions bago mag manage.
Mas madali mag manage pag alam mo ang lahat tungkol sa business mo.

I am hoping na ikaw na nakakabasa nito ay maging isang manager ng isang business o ng sarili mong
