Creating Drilldowns
Drilldowns are relationships between charts that allow you to further analyze data at a more granular level.

Prerequisites
You create your drilldown path from the highest-level chart and work down to the lowest level.

 Tip
Before you create a drilldown, specify which attributes you want to group the key gures by (Group by).

Context
You can create relationships between your charts, which allow you to drill down further into your data. When you click a level in
your chart, that level becomes the lter for the next chart. For example, if your chart shows the Consensus Demand Plan
Quantity for customers 1 and 2, you could drill down into customer 1 to show the Consensus Demand Plan Quantity or any other
key gure by location for that customer.

When you create a drilldown, you can pass all or a subset of group by attributes. Also, when you create a chart, the selected
lters are carried over to the drilldown chart by default, but you can change them.

If you have multiple versions/scenarios selected for a chart, and you select a value for only one version, then click Drill Down, the
created drilldown will contain that value from both versions/scenarios ltered in the original chart, since the versions are part of
the lters. If you want the drilldown path to contain data from only one version/scenario, you can delete the other
version/scenario from the lter for that drilldown chart. Filters can be added and deleted from each drilldown chart at any level.

 Note
When you click Drill Down, the currently displayed chart, including any edits you have made, saves automatically. If you
cancel, the changes to the previous chart are not reverted. In addition, descriptive attributes are not supported by drilldown
charts.

Procedure
1. Open the Analytics - Advanced app.

2. Create a new chart or open an existing chart.

3. In edit mode, click one or more values in the chart, then click the  Drill Down icon.

4. From the Select Drilldown Path pop up, create a new path.

5. Give your path a name and optionally, a description.

6. Optionally, select Cascade Filters to carry the ad-hoc and planning lter values to the next level charts. When you enter
any other lter other than the external lter attributes, it cascades over to next level. For more information, see
example below.

7. Choose OK.

A temporary chart displays with the selected data from the root chart.

8. Modify the current level chart by adding or removing key gures, group by attributes, or changing the chart type. You can
also change the level chart as needed.

9. If you want to drill down again, choose additional data points and click Drill Down. Repeat the process of choosing
attributes and modifying charts as many times as needed.

10. When you are done, select Save.

 Note
After you save a drilldown, the root chart displays. You can use the drilldown path you've created to drill down into the
different levels you've created by selecting data points. You can navigate back to any level by using the breadcrumbs
on top of the chart.

Results
Once a drilldown path has been created, a Drill Down tab appears. This tab displays all the level chart information and all the
drilldown paths a chart contains.

When you are in edit mode, you can delete drilldown paths and level charts from the Drill Down tab.

If you delete an upper level chart, all chart levels underneath are deleted.

You can also edit an existing drilldown path by clicking on Drill Down and choosing an existing path. You can then either delete or
add more level charts.

 Note
You can only add level charts at the last node of the path. You can de ne up to ve drilldown paths. There is no limit to the
number of levels you can de ne inside the drilldown path.

Example
Case 1: The cascading lter option is on.

If you have saved a lter value (example, V1) for a speci c attribute (example, ATT1) in one of your level charts and you enter a
different value (example, V2) for the same attribute (ATT1) on the main chart, the entered value (V2) overwrites the already
saved one (V1).

Case 2: The cascading lter option is off.

If you have saved a lter value for a speci c attribute in one of your level charts and you enter a different value for the same
attribute on the main chart, the entered value does not overwrite the already saved one.

 Note
If you add this chart to a dashboard and enter a different lter value (example, V3) on the dashboard for the same attribute
(ATT1) and then navigate to Analytics – Advanced app, the external lter value (V3) from the dashboard is carried over and
prioritized over (V1) and (V2)

Note that any other attribute other than attribute (ATT1) is merged.
