Displaying Planning Notes

Display planning notes in your analytics charts.

Planning notes created in the SAP IBP add-in for Microsoft Excel, Planner Workspaces, or in Web-Based Planning can be
displayed in your analytics charts so that you can gain insight about changes users made.

Prerequisites
You’ve created an analytics chart and enabled the planning notes option. For more information on how to create analytics
charts, see Creating Analytics Charts.

Procedure
Follow these steps to display planning notes in your analytics charts:

1. Select Show Notes from the menu of the chart container to see which data points contain planning notes.

The chart shows plain bars where there are planning notes and empty bars where there are no planning notes.

A message indicating that a chart doesn't contain notes is displayed when there are no planning notes.

2. To view the notes of a certain data point, select a plain bar.

The notes are then retrieved and showed in the table below the graph.

Planning notes are displayed in a table with the key gure value that has changed when the note was captured, the
change time and change user, the lter attribute values if any were applied, the time period, and the planning level
attributes on which the notes have been captured.

 Note

Planning notes can only be displayed on table, column, bar, stacked, and line charts. If you choose to show
notes on an unsupported chart type, it temporarily changes to a column chart.

If the amount of data makes it hard to see the plain bars that contain notes, zoom in or maximize the chart.

Drilling down on your chart while you are viewing notes is supported, however, you can only select one data
point at a time.

If you don’t have authorization to view a certain attribute and you want to view a planning note on that
attribute, a message indicating that you are not authorized to view the note is shown instead of the value.

3. If you have any keywords associated with your notes, they can be viewed beneath the planning notes text.

 Note
The default parameter for the number of keywords you can see is set to ve.
