Organel
menjalankan fungsi yang tertentu. Contohnya, ribosom mensintesis protein dalam sel.
Organelle is a tiny structure found in the cytoplasm of a cell. It can carry out a specific function. For example, the ribosome
synthesises protein in a cell.

3. (a) Red blood cell / Sel darah merah
The red blood cell has the shape of a small biconcave disc. This shape increases the surface area to volume ratio and allows rapid
diffusion of oxygen into or out of the red blood cell.
hemoglobin.
The red blood cell has no nucleus so it has more space for respiratory pigment, haemoglobin.
The haemoglobin pigment has a high affinity for oxygen.
The plasma membrane of the cell is elastic, allowing it to squeeze through the narrow blood capillaries in order to transport
oxygen to the whole body.
Motor neurone / Neuron motor
Motor neurone has a long axon to send nerve impulses to effectors to produce the appropriate response.
The relay of an impulse is speed up by the node of Ranvier and the presence of the myelin sheath, which acts as an electrical
insulator.
penghantaran impuls saraf.
Motor neurones contain a lot of mitochondria to generate ATP that is required for the transmission of nerve impulses.
Sperma / Sperm
The sperm has a tail to enable it to swim towards the ovum in the Fallopian tube.
The sperm contains many mitochondria to generate ATP needed for locomotion.
The head of the sperms contains hydrolytic enzymes that can break down the plasma membrane of the ovum to allow penetration
of the sperm into the ovum for fertilisation.
Thus, the exchange of gaseous substances (carbon dioxide and oxygen) can occur through simple diffusion to any part of
the organism›s body.
Hence, Paramecium sp. does not require a complex respiratory system.
FOKUS KBAT
(a) Organel ini ialah kloroplas. Kloroplas mengandungi pigmen hijau yang dipanggil klorofil. Klorofil memerangkap
tenaga daripada cahaya matahari untuk fotosintesis.
The organelle is chloroplast. Chloroplast contains green pigments called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll traps the energy from sunlight for
photosynthesis.
The green pigment in leaves is not the same as the green pigment in the frog. Green pigment in leaves (chlorophyll) traps energy from the sun to
carry out photosynthesis. Green frogs do not carry out photosynthesis, so there are none of these organelles in the frog cell.

• Terbentuk daripada kondensasi nukleotida. Setiap nukleotida terdiri daripada suatu bes bernitrogen,
suatu gula pentosa dan suatu kumpulan fosfat.
Forms from condensation of nucleotides. Each nucleotide consists of a nitrogenous base, a pentose sugar and a phosphate
group.
Nucleic acids store genetic information in the form of codes in the nitrogenous base.
• Terdapat dua jenis asid nukleik, iaitu DNA dan RNA.
There are two types of nucleic acids, namely DNA and RNA.
DNA is a double-stranded nucleic acid with two strands of polynucleotide twisted around each other to form a double helix.
DNA carries genetic information that can be passed on from one generation to the next.
The genetic information stored in DNA can be used for its own replication or to control protein synthesis.
protein.
RNA consists of a shorter single polynucleotide strand. It can be found in the nucleus, cytoplasm and ribosomes. mRNA carries
DNA’s genetic code and directs the synthesis of proteins.

3. (a) Kepentingan air di dalam sel:
The importance of water in the cell:
• Suatu konstituen perlu protoplasma.
An essential constituent of protoplasm.
A medium for biochemical reactions in the cell.
• Pelarut semesta bagi kebanyakan molekul biologi / The universal solvent of many biological molecules.
Plays an important role in maintaining body temperature within tolerable limits.
• Bertindak sebagai medium pengangkutan. / Acts as a transport medium.
• Plasma darah terdiri daripada kira-kira 90% air. Plasma mengandungi molekul-molekul seperti gula,
Blood plasma consists of about 90% water. It contains molecules such as sugar, amino acids and respiratory gases which dissolve
in water.
Helps in the movement of food in the digestive tract.
Important in osmoregulation of bodily fluids. The concentration of dissolved inorganic salts in the water maintains the osmotic
balance between the blood and interstitial fluid.
• Memberi kesegahan untuk menyokong tumbuhan. Sap mengandungi air dan bahan-bahan terlarut
lain.
menyebabkan sel menjadi segah.
Provides turgidity to support plants. The sap contains water and other dissolved substances. As a result, water moves into the cell
due to high osmotic concentration in the cell. This causes the cell to be turgid.
• Bertindak sebagai medium bagi resapan. Lapisan nipis kelembapan pada permukaan respirasi seperti
alveoli membantu resapan gas-gas respirasi merentasi membran alveolus.
Acts as a medium for diffusion. The thin layer of moisture at the respiratory surface such as alveoli facilitates diffusion of
respiratory gases across the alveolar membrane.
• Membantu dalam pelinciran. Mukus dan bendalir sInovial terdiri daripada air.
Helps in lubrication. Mucus and synovial fluid consist mainly of water.
(b) Air dipanggil sebagai ‘pelarut hidup’ kerana:
Water is called a ‘solvent of life’ because:
Water is a polar molecule, meaning that there is an uneven distribution of electron density.
• Air mempunyai suatu cas negatif separa (δ-) dekat atom oksigen dan cas positif separa (δ+) dekat
atom-atom hydrogen.
Water has a partial negative charge (δ-) near the oxygen atom and partial positive charges (δ+) near the hydrogen atoms.
The ability of ions and other molecules to dissolve in water is due to polarity. Polar molecules attract each other as well as ions
and other polar molecules.
Because of this property, water can dissolve many ionic compounds such as mineral salts and polar molecules such as sugar and
amino salts.
FOKUS KBAT
Ikatan hidrogen membenarkan kelikatan, iaitu tarikan
antara molekul-molekul yang sama jenis. Hal ini membolehkan sesetengah serangga seperti ‘water strider’ berjalan
di atas air.
Cohesion allows for the development of surface tension, the ability of a substance to withstand being ruptured when placed under tension or stress.
Hydrogen bonding allows for cohesion, the attraction between molecules of the same type. Hence, this is why some insects such as water striders
can walk on water.

Dimanipulasikan: Isi padu air yang diminum
Manipulated: Volume of water intake
Bergerak balas: Isi padu air kencing yang dikumpul
Responding: Volume of urine collected
Di malarkan: Jenis minuman
Fixed: Type of drink
Perbincangan/ Discussions:
1. Semakin banyak air yang diminum, semakin besar jumlah air kencing dihasilkan. Ini kerana tekanan
osmotik darah menurun apabila lebih banyak air diminum, menyebabkan kurang air diserap semula dan
akibatnya lebih banyak air kencing dikeluarkan.
The larger the volume of water consumed, the larger the volume of urine excreted. This is because the blood osmotic pressure decreases
when more water is consumed. This results in less water being reabsorbed and consequently more urine is excreted.
2. Jika murid A diberi minum 100 ml larutan natrium klorida 5%, isi padu air kencing yang dihasilkan semakin
berkurangan kerana tekanan osmosis darah semakin bertambah. Maka, lebih banyak air diserap semula
ke dalam kapilari darah.
If student A is given 100 ml of 5% sodium chloride solution, the amount of urine produced will be reduced because the blood osmotic
pressure is increased causing to more water being reabsorbed into the blood capillary.
Kesimpulan/ Conclusion:
Semakin banyak isi padu air yang diminum, semakin banyak isi padu air kencing yang dihasilkan. Hipotesis
diterima.
The higher the volume of water intake the higher the volume of urine produced. The hypothesis is accepted.
