Choral Presentations
 also called as Speech Choral, Speech Choir.
 allows children to recite a verse, story or rhyme in unison with elements of choreography.
 through this speech choir experience where children perform as a group, it helps to bring
the text alive for the children.
 build students' fluency, self-confidence, and motivation.

Types of Speech Choir


 Conventional Speech Choir -it is also called traditional
 it does not require to use costumes, props, nor choreography.
 the choir just simply speaks or reads a literary piece

 Dynamic Speech Choir -it is also called theatrical


 it is the reverse of the conventional speech choir

Elements of Speech Choir


Pieces
 Selections are typically poems or poetic passages, such as from Greek dramas or
Shakespeare's plays. The conductor gives some thought to the passage, breaking into
parts.
 Facial expressions and intonation are also carefully planned so all the members can
practice in unison.
 Solo parts for specific members can add dramatic effect.
Choreography
 In simple terms, dance or planned movement. It may not be vital to speech choir.
However, it adds emphasis, flair, or dramatic effect to the performance.
Members
 They can be 12 or more and are divided based on their natural or speaking voices.
 Most schools and competitions features choir of 25 to 40 members.
Voice Quality
 The ability to combine successfully the light, medium, and dark voices in the choir , is
the ability to communicate through voice, reactions to thoughts or emotions.
Power Quality
 Ability to use volume, force, or loudness as emphasis in appropriate places to better
express feeling and meaning
 A power build should be related to the elements of a sentence and growing emotion.
Phrasing and Rhythm
 Ability to use phrasing and rhythm as reinforcements for each other.
 Each much blend to better express the meaning of the verse.
Tempo
 refers to the rate of speed at which a reading progresses.
 the ability to balance the rhythm of a piece and the tempo of performance.
 Tempo should relate to the central "beat" of the poem. If it is too fast or too slow.
Costumes
 What members will wear. It could be simple, or it could be in line with the theme of the
piece.
 can be as simple as matching outfits or robes, such as a vocal choir would wear, or
elaborate theatrical garb.
Staging
 The ability to successfully organize and position the choir on stage or risers for the
performance effect.
 The ability to stage entrances and exits which enhance the mood of the poem and the
performance.

Things to Remember in doing Speech Choir


 It requires technical skills that must be honed and practiced.
1. Breathing
 The most important part of any performing art, from playing an instrument to
acting in a play.
 Mark your speech choir piece like a sheet of music, noting where it makes sense
to take a breath, so you don't interrupt the word flow but have enough breath to
make it through the line. Breathing in performance links you with your whole
group, calms your nerves, and gives your performance life.
2. Articulation and Diction
 By practicing your articulation and diction, your words will be clear and vibrant.
Strive to make every word lucid and colorful.
3. Connection to the group
 A speech choir is a living organism made up on individuals, never forget that.
You are not performing a monologue; you are a part of a group performance.
4. The Text
 The text is your guide; it's what the audience came to see and hear you perform.
 Let the audience "see" what you are saying

Tips for Speech Choir


1. Pronunciation. Teach and learn the correct pronunciation.
2. Stress and Intonation. Teach and learn the correct rising and falling intonation. Words to be
stressed depends on the intended meaning.
3. Members. Participants will be depending on the piece and desired number.
4. Piece. A contest piece is often a poem.
5. Script. Arrange the contest piece before giving it your participants.
6. Memorize the speech.
7. Facial Expressions. Practice how the facial expressions will be delivered.
8. Delivering. Deliver with the intent to be understood.
9. Props and Actions. For conventional speech these are unnecessary, however, for Dynamic
Speech, these are part of the show and with the same importance.
10. Confidence. Participants should not fidget or make unnecessary moves through out the
delivery.

literature appears to have adhered to the prevalent cultural
expectations of childhood at the time.Children literature in the
philippines were based on oral tradition wherein Children songs
like lullabies were sung by mothers for their children.The
Philippines' children's literature has advanced significantly.
Beginning with Western novels, the Filipino
childrens have found values and enjoyment in stories that they
are familiar with. They are given materials that encourage
them to appreciate their own culture and values rather than those
of a foreigner.They are frequently used to explain or instill
principles in children that they should practice or at the very
least be aware of. Love, courage, and friendship are common
themes in these tales, which have sparked children's
imaginations and a feeling of adventure all across the world.The
Philippines had a variety of children's literature. Philippine
children's literature underlined the importance of the
environment to the Filipino people which includes this into its
overall narrative of how "human culture is tied to the physical
world, affecting and being influenced by it."It informs children
about "the influence of natural metaphors offered to young
readers, as well as how these metaphors are likely to shape
environmental reality in the future." It aims to directly inform
and direct children's environmental understandings and
responses. In essence, children's educated perceptions of nature
represent a form of environmental maturation, expressing and
practicing the appropriate values and attitudes toward natural
settings.
