1. Why did you want to become a teacher?


- It is her passion to make a difference in children's lives.

2. Would you ever consider teaching another grade?


- Mrs. Hagman said she has taught K-12 throughout her teaching career.

3. If you had to switch jobs, what would you choose and why?
- Work with poems with special needs students.

4. Did you ever experience teacher burn out?


- No, she loves every second of it.

5. What is your favorite part of the district?


- Dealing with the families, and knowing that they have the best curriculum.

6. How long did it take for you to get used to the district?
- The first year was a learning experience, so one year.

7. What is your least favorite part of the district?


- Morality could be better.

8. How would you describe your experience with other staff at the school?
- Excellent, always help each other.

9. Are you friends with any of the staff outside of school?


- Yes, one staff member.

10. What is your favorite classroom set up?


- Hands on, and grouping them together.

11. How often do you move things around in your classroom?


- With Covid it was limited, but usually monthly seating changes

12. How do you deal with upset parents?


- Listen to them, and thank them for sharing their concern.

13. What is your opinion on extra credit?


- Usually doesn’t have it in first grade, but she supports it.
14. How do you implement discipline without making a scene?
- Use a sense of humor, and be gentle about it. Use hallway as privacy.

15. How do you deal with students missing school work?


- Send the work home siblings, or work with them on it the next day they are in.

16. How far in advance do you figure out your lesson plan?
- Usually on a monthly basis.

17. How often do you have to change your lesson plan?


- It depends on the group, always looking for change.

18. On average how long do you stay at school after the final bell?
- Usually about 2 and half hours

19. Are lessons extended if students are doing exceptionally well?


- It depends on the class as a whole.

20. Do you set the classroom up the same way each year?
- Not with covid, but usually she tries to create more space.

21. What, if anything, do you change about your classroom each year?
- Beginning of school year, depends on students

22. At which point do you reach out to a parent because of academic challenges?
- After a set of weeks, after the first 2 weeks minimum.

23. At which point do you reach out to a parent because of behavioral challenges?
- After the students are given chances to correct themselves a few times.

24. How do you prepare for parent teacher conferences?


- Start off with a positive, go over weaknesses, have all paper work ready

25. Do you go to every teacher convention?


- Not every single one

26. How do you deal two students who do not get along?
- Seperate them, have a talk with them. Set up strategies with them for what works best
for them.

27. Do you feel supported by the administration?


- Yes, the last few years have been strong.

28. Do you feel more supported than yourself by the the administration?
- Yes, she feels that she supports herself more than the administration.

29. How do you deal with upset coworkers?


- She has not really ever experienced it.

30. Do favorites exist in the classroom?


- No, everyone is looked for the goodness in every student.

31. Do you believe in homework?


- Yes, as long as it is not busy work.

32. Do you think homework should be graded for accuracy or completion?


- More for completion, because that is where you are allowed to make mistakes.

33. How much homework do you give on a regular week basis?


- It is set by the Board of Ed, Monday - Thursday 10 minutes each night

34. Do you feel that at home projects or more parent versus parent then kids completing
them?
- Parents try to intervene when its obvious, guiding them is ok, but let them do the
majority.

35. Is group work better than individual work?


- Depends on the individual, every student is different.

36. How do you deal with student frustration in learning?


- Try to boost their self confidence.

37. How often do you have teacher burn out?


- Never, she has never experienced it before

38. Do you let students resolve their own issues?


- Yes, it is important for them to come up with their own resolution from strategies they
learned from class.

39. How do you keep students engaged in a lesson?


- Try to do more hands-on assignments, keep them interested. Not just paperwork only.

40. How do you keep students excited to learn?


- The teacher needs to be enthusiastic, get rhe students excited, and have sillly touches.
