Malcolm, Felix, Lana and Tanner travel to Hawaii for their
vacation. However, being stuck in a room together leads to life-
changing conversations. Back home, Luciana interrogates Samara

I/E. BEACH - EARLY MORNING


There is a light breeze. The waves crash. Thunder rumbles in
the distance.
A girl sits on a small pile of rocks near the water. The wind
is blowing her hair back.
CARMEN RAY (17, female) is reading WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by
Delia Owens. Sprinkles of water splash onto her face. Thunder
rumbles.
Carmen sighs and puts a bookmark into the book. She closes
the book and climbs off of the rocks. She grabs her sandals
and walks through the sand.
To her left is a small wooden staircase leading up. A man
stands at the top of them.
MAN
Hey girl, come on up here. The
storm is rolling in.
Carmen stops walking and looks at the man.
CARMEN
I can see that. I'm walking to my
car though.
The man groans.
MAN
I'm sure it would be wiser for you
to come up this way.
CARMEN
I assure you sir, I know what I'm
doing.
Carmen rolls her eyes and continues walking.
MAN
God damn it.
The man begins walking down the stairs. Carmen notices this
and begins walking faster.
CARMEN
Leave me alone.

MAN
I told you to get over here!
The man begins speedwalking towards Carmen.
CARMEN
Leave me the hell alone creep!
Carmen begins running through the sand. She falls and gets
sand in her eyes. She screams in pain.
The man grabs her leg and starts dragging her.
Carmen kicks the man in the head, sending him flying
backwards. She stands up and begins running. The man
practically jumps up and pushes her into the lake.
MAN
Bitch.
The man holds her head underwater. After about 15 seconds,
she stops moving and we can see her body float away.
CUT TO:

INT. CENDRAL DINER - SAME TIME


MALCOLM MOORE (17), LANA MURRAY (16), FELIX KING (17) and
TANNER RIVERA (16) sit in a booth. Malcolm is drinking a Dr.
Pepper. Lana is drinking a Lemonade. Felix is drinking a
Mountain Dew. Tanner is drinking a 7-Up.

MALCOLM
Okay, guys. Since it is the
official last summer vacation we
will ever have, I say let's go all
out.
Lana takes a drink of her Lemonade.
LANA
What do you mean by "all out"?
Felix looks at Malcolm.
FELIX
Took the words right out of my
mouth.
MALCOLM
I mean, we get out of town for the
summer. Maybe go someplace tropical
for a week?

TANNER
Tropical? Do you know how hard it
would be to find a decent hotel.
Malcolm takes a drink of his Pepsi.
MALCOLM
Funny that you say that, because I
already booked us rooms at a hotel.
FELIX
Rooms? Where's the hotel?
MALCOLM
Hawaii.
Lana gasps.
LANA
You got tickets to Hawaii!? Oh
there is no doubt about it, we're
going.
They nod.
PAN TO:

INT. CENDRAL DINER - CONTINUOUS


BLAKE BAILEY (16) sits at a wooden table across from SAMARA
MENDOZA (17).
SAMARA
I'm glad you agreed to meet me
here, Blake.
BLAKE
Well, when you start a conversation
like that, it is never going to end
well. What's the matter?
An employee walks over to Samara and Blake.
EMPLOYEE 1
Hi! Welcome to the Cendral Diner!
May I get you started with some
drinks?
SAMARA
I'll have a water with lemon
thanks.

BLAKE
I'll have a Pepsi.
The employee writes in a small notepad. They smile.
EMPLOYEE 1
Alright, I'll be right back with
those.
SAMARA
Alright.
Samara turns her head back to Blake.
BLAKE
Alright Samara. What the hell do
you need to talk to me about?
Samara roll her eyes.
SAMARA
(To Herself)
How do I say this in a nice way?
BLAKE
It doesn't matter how you say it,
just say it.
SAMARA
Fine. We're done.
Blake nods.
BLAKE
You got any reasons why?
SAMARA
I caught you cheating, dumbass.
Blake chuckles.
BLAKE
You caught me cheating? Is that
your excuse because if you want to
talk about cheating, I could write
a whole novel about you.
Samara glares at Blake.
SAMARA
What are you talking about?

BLAKE
Carter, Ryder, Frank. Those names
sound familiar?
Samara gasps.

SAMARA
How do you know about this?
BLAKE
I heard from a friend of friend.
Samara scoffs.
SAMARA
I'd like to know who these
"friends" are.
BLAKE
That's none of your business
Samara.
A single tear flows from Samara's left eye. Blake stands up.
SAMARA
Where are you going? We aren't
finished talking.
BLAKE
As you said earlier, we're done.
Blake walks out of the diner. Samara covers her face with her
hands.
PAN TO:

INT. CENDRAL DINER - CONTINUOUS


MARLEY JIMINEZ(16), JENNIFER GRIFFIN(17), HEATHER KENNEDY(17)
and NICOLA STONE(16) sit in a booth. They are all drinking
milkshakes.
Sirens can be heard as police vehicles drive past the Diner's
windows.
The girls look towards the windows.
MARLEY
I wonder what happened.
They turn away from the table.

JENNIFER
Probably just a car accident.
HEATHER
Or a fire.
Nicola takes a drink of her milkshake.
NICOLA
Or a murder.
JENNIFER
I doubt that.
MARLEY
Nothing that interesting ever
happens in this town.
They laugh. They take drinks of their milkshakes.

I/E. BEACH - SAME TIME


Police vehicles arrive at the beach. CHIEF LUCIANA MOLINA(34)
steps out of her vehicle. DETECTIVE NICO ROBBINS(31) exits
the car as well.
OFFICERS RAMON FLEMING(28) and HOLIDAY DAWSON(29) exit their
vehicle.
RAMON
Luciana, why are we here?
HOLIDAY
The last time I was here was for a
graduation party.
LUCIANA
We got a call claiming to see a
murder.
NICO
So we need to examine the scene.
RAMON
I doubt anything actually happened,
this town has never had anything
that extreme happen.
HOLIDAY
Not true.
They walk onto the sandy beach.

LUCIANA
I think I know what you're talking
about.
NICO
What is she talking about?
LUCIANA
You don't know?
Nico shakes his head.
LUCIANA (CONT'D)
Holiday, please explain for the
men.
Holiday smiles eerily.
CUT TO:

INT. SUBURBAN HOME - KITCHEN - 1956


LINDA WATERBEND(41) stands at a stove, shaking a pan. SUSAN
CANTEL(38) walks into the kitchen.
Linda turns around.
LINDA
Oh, Susan. How is set-up going?
SUSAN
Oh, Linda. It's swell.
Linda turns back towards the stove and continues shaking the
pan.
LINDA
Well, don't be shy. Flip your lid.
SUSAN
But the party hasn't started yet
Linda.
LINDA
Susan. You are getting on my
nerves.
CHARLES RAY(54) enters the kitchen.
SUSAN
Charles, you're early!
Charles pulls out a gun. Susan gasps.

Linda turns around and screams.


BANG! A gunshot is heard. Linda bends back onto the stove.
Her dress lights on fire. Susan screams as Linda's burning
body falls to the ground.
CHARLES
Get the message?
Susan shakes her head.
CHARLES (CONT'D)
You scream, you die.
SUSAN
Please, don't do this to me
Charles.
CHARLES
You lost.
SUSAN
NO!!
Charles shoots Susan. Blood shoots onto the wall as Susan's
body falls to the floor.
The Teddy Beaers' "TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM" plays.
Charles bursts out into laughter. He turns the gun chamber
towards his forehead and pulls the trigger.
Charles' body falls to the ground.

I/E. BEACH - PRESENT DAY


The music fades out.
NICO
So you're telling me that there was
a double murder/suicide that most
people haven't heard of?
Holiday nods.
HOLIDAY
Yes! That is exactly what I'm
saying!
RAMON
That makes literally no sense. We
surely would have heard about that.

LUCIANA
Well you can go do some research at
the library. I assure you, she's
telling the truth.
RAMON
Oh I believe it.

EXT. CENDRAL DINER - SAME TIME


Blake walks out of the diner. He walks down the sidewalk. A
man wearing a black hoodie stands off in the distance. Blake
notices the man. The man raises his index finger to the side
of his nose.

INT. CENDRAL DINER - CONTINUOUS


A woman walks into the middle of the diner. She steps onto a
table.
WOMAN 1
May I have everyone's attention!?
The people in the diner look over to the woman.
WOMAN 1 (CONT'D)
Good. Um, starting in about 10
minutes, we will be accepting
volunteers for a karaoke night. So
uh, yeah, just be prepared.
The woman steps off of the table and walks away.
Malcolm, Lana, Felix and Tanner are still sitting at the
booth.
FELIX
That's new.
TANNER
I don't think so.
MALCOLM
Have they always had a karoake
thing here?
LANA
I don't know, but I think I'll do a
performance. I'm gonna go find her.
Lana exits the booth and begins walking around the diner.

So when exactly is this vacation?
MALCOLM
The vacation starts Saturday, so
soon.
FELIX
Well damn.
Feedback from a microhpone can be heard. People groan and
cover their ears.
FELIX (CONT'D)
Sounds like Lana's getting ready to
perform.

LANA (O.C.)

Lana walks into view.

Lana approaches the table.

Felix smiles.
LANA (CONT'D)

Tanner looks over at Malcolm. They exchange glances.
LANA (CONT'D)

Lana Del Rey's "BROOKLYN BABY" fades out.
Lana is sitting back at the booth.

So tell me again, how long have you
and Felix been dating?
Felix and Lana look at each other.
LANA
Um...
FELIX
About 7 months.
Malcolm smiles.
Felix and Lana kiss.

EXT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - SAME TIME


Blake walks up to the front door. He notices that the door is
ajar.
BLAKE
Hello? Is someone in here?
Blake pushes the door open.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - MAIN HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS


Blake steps further into the house. She shuts the front door
quietly. A creak is heard from upstairs.
Blake looks towards the stairs. He runs past the staircase
and into the kitchen.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS


Blake runs over to a knife block and grabs the biggest knife
he can find. He holds it out in front of him.
BLAKE
If there is anyone in this, I
demand you show yourself right the
hell now!
The stairs creak. Blake breathes heavily as the same man,
JONATHAN SPRICHZTER(38), from earlier appears in the main
hallway, holding a knife.
BLAKE (CONT'D)
Oh shit.

Jonathan runs towards Blake. Blake moves out of the path of


Jonathan, causing him to crash into the counter. Blake
screams.
Jonathan chases after Blake. Blake falls and slams his face
into the dining room table.
BLAKE (CONT'D)
Fuck!
Jonathan stabs Blake in the back. Blake screams. He turns
around and punches the man across the face.
BLAKE (CONT'D)
Who the hell are you?
Jonathan glares angrily at Blake.
JONATHAN
My name is none of your concern.
Jonathan stabs Blake in the gut. Blake gasps and grabs his
gut as Jonathan removes the knife. Blake falls to the ground,
sobbing.
Jonathan wipes his knife in an homage to SCREAM.
BLAKE
Please, don't do this to me.
Jonathan kneels down next to Blake.
JONATHAN
Sorry, not sorry.
Jonathan stabs Blake in his left ear. The tip of the knife
protrudes from his right ear. Blood pours down both sides of
Blake's head.
Blake falls over. Blood spills onto the floor. Jonathan exits
the house through the backdoor.
FADE TO BLACK.

EXT. ABANDONED FACTORY - LATER


Jonathan stands outside the factory. The roof has partially
collapsed and the walls are severely damaged. Jonathan walks
towards the factory walls.

INT. ABANDONED FACTORY - CONTINUOUS


Jonathan walks into the factory.
JONATHAN
Hello?
RAMON (O.C.)
Hello Jonathan.

PAN 180 DEGREES


Ramon is standing about 50 feet in front of Jonathan, facing
a wall.
JONATHAN
Why'd you call me here?
Ramon turns around.
RAMON
You know why Jonathan.
JONATHAN
What, are you asking if I got it
done?
RAMON
Sure.
Jonathan sighs.
JONATHAN
Yes I got it done.
RAMON
That's good to hear. How did it
feel?
JONATHAN
I don't know. It felt wrong, to be
completely honest.
Ramon chuckles menacingly.
RAMON
Of course it did, you killed
someone. But don't be afraid, we
will take care of them all. Did you
leave the message?
Jonathan runs his hand through his hair.

JONATHAN
That's what I forgot.
RAMON
You dumbass. Well, you better go
back. And hurry up, because his
parents come home, I will have no
choice but to arrest you.
Jonathan smirks.
JONATHAN
You wouldn't do that.
RAMON
I don't want to do that, I need you
for the plan, but if I have to, I
will. Now go.
JONATHAN
You're fucking crazy.
RAMON
I'm not the murderer.
JONATHAN
BECAUSE YOU ARE FUCKING
MANIPULATING ME!
RAMON
It's not manipulation.
JONATHAN
NO, YOU'RE RIGHT! IT'S FUCKING
BLACKMAIL.
Ramon smiles menacingly.
RAMON
Tick. Tick. Tick. Time's running
out, Jonathan.
A tear falls down Jonathan's face.
RAMON (CONT'D)
Are you seriously crying?
Jonathan wipes his eyes.
JONATHAN
Go to hell.
Jonathan walks out of the abandoned factory. Ramon smiles
sinisterly at Jonathan.

Heather is holding the microphone.

Heather makes a quick glance at her table. The girls whisper
amongst themselves.
HEATHER (CONT'D)

Heather stands on a table.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
I KNOW THAT BEAUTY IS NOT MY LACK

other girls gasp. People in the diner gasp.

Jennifer stands up and runs towards Heather. She pushes
Heather into a table, sending the microphone flying.
Olivia Rodrigo's "JEALOUSY, JEALOUSY" continues playing.
JENNIFER
(Overlapping)
You bitch!
HEATHER
(Overlapping)
Get off of me!
Marley and Nicola run over to Jennifer and Heather. Jennifer
slaps Heather.
Heather screams.
NICOLA

MARLEY
(Overlapping)

JENNIFER
(Overlapping)

Heather punches Jennifer in the mouth. People in the diner
are recording. An employee runs up the girls.
EMPLOYEE 1
I'm going to have to ask you guys
to leave. And never come back.
 
NICOLA MARLEY
WHAT!? WHAT!?
EMPLOYEE 1
Not you two, you two can stay, but
you bitches need to leave.

Nicola pulls Jennifer off of Heather.


JENNIFER
Let go of me Nicola!
Jennifer tries to get out of Nicola's grasp.
NICOLA
No, we're gonna leave. You and
Heather can continue this outside.
MARLEY
Heather, run as fast as you fucking
can because as soon as we get her
out of here she's gonna come for
you.
Heather crawls off of the floor and runs out of the diner.
JENNIFER
NOO!!!!
Jennifer writhes in Nicola's arms.
NICOLA
(Straining)
I don't know how much longer I can
hold her Marley!
Jennifer pushes herself out of Nicola's arms. Nicola falls to
the ground.
MARLEY
Shit!
Marley runs after Jennifer.
JENNIFER
You fucking bitch! I'm gonna
fucking kill you!
Jennifer runs out of the diner. Marley runs after her.
Nicola gets up off of the ground. Samara walks over to
Nicola.
SAMARA
What the hell did I just witness?
NICOLA
The crazy side of Jennifer.

Malcolm, Lana, Felix and Tanner are looking at Tanner's phone
and laughing.
MALCOLM
I can't believe we just fucking
watched this go down.
LANA
That was so funny!

I/E. DOWNTOWN - SAME TIME


Heather runs along the sidewalk. Cars drive on the road. She
is sobbing. Jennifer is chasing after her, screaming like a
psycho.
Labrinth's "YEH I FUCKIN' DID IT" plays.
Marley and Nicola run after Jennifer.
MARLEY
JENNIFER STOP!
NICOLA
This is insane!
JENNIFER
I'm going to kill you Heather!
Heather runs out into the middle of the street, almost
getting hit by a car in the process. The car slams on the
brakes. Heather screams.
Heather continues running.
Labrinth's "YEH I FUCKIN' DID IT" ends.

EXT. HEATHER KENNEDY'S HOUSE - MOMENTS LATER


Heather runs into her house. She begins shutting the door but
Jennifer forces her way into the house.
Marley and Nicola run into the house as well.

INT. HEATHER KENNEDY'S HOUSE - MAIN HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS


JENNIFER
You dumb fucking bitch!
Heather begins running up the stairs. Jennifer grabs her left
ankle, causing Heather to fall and slam her face onto the
floor. Blood pours from her nose.
Nicola and Marley cover their mouths.
HEATHER
PLEASE STOP!
Jennifer punches Heather in the back. Heather cries out in
pain. DANIELLE KENNEDY(42) walks down the stairs.
DANIELLE
Now what the fuck do you think
you're doing beating up on my
daughter in my house?!
Jennifer looks up and mouths fuck.
DANIELLE (CONT'D)
Get out of my house, now!
Jennifer stands up and walks out of the house.
DANIELLE (CONT'D)
You girls go too.
Nicola and Marley walk out of the house. Heather runs up the
stairs crying.
DANIELLE (CONT'D)
Uh uh, get your ass down here right
now Heather.

The slamming of a door is heard.

INT. HEATHER KENNEDY'S HOUSE - HEATHER'S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS


Thumping can be heard as Danielle walks up the stairs.
Heather is lying on her bed, crying. Danielle walks into the
room.
HEATHER
Leave me alone!
DANIELLE
No, you need to tell me what the
Hell she was doing that to you for?

Heather sits up.


HEATHER
I started it Mom, I was getting fed
up with her shit and I started it.
Now leave me alone.
Danielle sighs.
DANIELLE
I didn't raise a dumbass, did I?
Danielle walks out Heather's room. She shuts the door on the
way out.

I/E. NEIGHBORHOOD - SAME TIME


Nicola, Marley and Jennifer are walking together.
JENNIFER
She's lucky I didn't kill her.
NICOLA
I don't care.
Jennifer scoffs.
JENNIFER
Wanna get a taste?
MARLEY
You need to stop Jennifer. You got
yourself and Heather banned from
that diner, so have fun finding
something else to do this summer.
You're like an agent of chaos or
something.
JENNIFER
Do you have a problem with me or
something, Marley? Nicola?
Jennifer looks back and forth at Nicola and Marley.
NICOLA
Yeah, you're insane. It's too much.
JENNIFER
Are you fucking kidding me?

MARLEY
No, we aren't. We're sick of your
bullshit. Enjoy your walk home,
we're going back to the diner.
Nicola and Marley begin walking in the direction of the
diner.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - MAIN HALLWAY - SAME TIME


KAREN BAILEY(40) and CONNOR BAILEY(43) walk into the house
through the front door.
KAREN
Blake!
CONNOR
We're home!
Karen shuts the front door.
KAREN
He's probably up in his room.
CONNOR
I'll go check.
Connor walks up the stairs.
CONNOR (O.C.) (CONT'D)
He's not here!
Karen sighs.
KAREN
I fucking hate kids.
Karen walks into the kitchen. She walks over to the fridge
and opens the door. She pulls out a bottle of champagne.
She closes the door and sets the champagne bottle on the
counter.
Blake's feet can barely be seen sticking out from the
entryway to the dining room. Karen notices this.
KAREN (CONT'D)
Blake? Did you fall asleep on the
floor?
Karen walks into the dining room.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - DINING ROOM


Blake's blood has been smeared onto their sliding glass door
to make the message "THERE WILL BE MORE". Karen screams.
The ceiling creaks as the thuds of Connor's footprints can be
heard.
Connor runs into the room.
CONNOR
Karen! What's going on!?
Connor notices Blake's corpse and begins screaming.
Karen falls to the floor, sobbing. She crawls over to Blake's
corpse.
KAREN
No! No! No! No! BLAKE! NOOO!
Connor sobs quietly.
CONNOR
I'm gonna call the police.
Connor walks into the kitchen.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS


He pulls his cell phone out of his pocket and dials 911.
The phone rings.
CONNOR
Hi, um, I'd like to report a murder
suicide.
Connor paces back and forth in the kitchen.
CONNOR (CONT'D)
Mhm, um, 1679 Westmore Street.
(Then.)
5 minutes? Okay.
(Then.)
Bye.
Connor sets his phone on the counter. He grabs a knife and
walks out of the kitchen.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS


CONNOR
Karen... honey.
Karen turns around, sobbing.
KAREN
What do you want, Connor?
CONNOR
I love you.
Connor stabs Karen through the top of her head. Karen gasps
as blood pours down her head. Tears fall from her eyes.
Connor retracts the knife and Karen falls backwards onto
Blake's corpse. As she does so, a yellowish-orange liquid
flies from Blake's mouth.
Connor begins gagging and walks into the kitchen.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS


Connor holds the knife to his throat.
[BREATHING HEAVILY]
Connor runs into the fridge, forcing the knife into his
throat. He screams. Blood pours down his throat.
Connor falls to the ground.

INT. BLAKE BAILEY'S HOUSE - MAIN HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS


Ramon and Holiday barge into the house, guns pointed.
RAMON
If there is anyone in this house,
we are going to need you to come
out now!
Holiday pushes Ramon's arm down and lowers hers.
She points towards the kitchen.

Holiday and Ramon walk into the kitchen. Ramon kneels down to
inspect Connor's corpse.
RAMON
Hmm. Stabbing yourself in the
throat? That's a messed up way to
go.
HOLIDAY
I'd prefer not to glorify death.
Holiday walks into the dining room. She gasps.
HOLIDAY (O.C.) (CONT'D)
I don't think this was a murder-

It is raining outside. Nicola and Heather are sitting in the
diner.
NICOLA
Thank God we got here when we did.
Heather takes a drink of her milkshake.
HEATHER

INT. CENDRAL DINER - CONTINUOUS


Malcolm, Lana, Felix and Tanner are still sitting in the
diner.
MALCOLM
It's dead in here.
LANA
I'm sure everyone went home because

FELIX

The TV turns on. The volume increases.

The people in the diner look at the TV.

Earlier today, my partners
discovered a grisly scene at the

Samara covers her mouth.

My officers have reported that the
entire Bailey family were found
dead from stab wounds.
Samara screams in anguish. Lana runs over to Samara and hugs
her.

Due to the discovery, I have
decided to institute a city-wide
curfew staring at 9 PM tonight and
will be lifted at 9 AM tomorrow.

FELIX
Malcolm, what's the matter?

curfew will probably be lifted.

hear?
HOLIDAY
That's what the call was. I don't
think that's what this was though.
Taylor puts on a pair of disposable rubber gloves.
TAYLOR
And what do you think this is?
HOLIDAY
Good-old-fashioned murder.
Taylor runs his gloved hand over the blood leaking from
karen's body.
TAYLOR
This blood is fresh.
He makes his way over to Blake's body. He runs his gloved
hand over the blood leaking from his body.
Taylor looks at Holiday.
HOLIDAY
What's wrong?
TAYLOR
Put on a pair of gloves.
Taylor points to the box of rubber gloves. Holiday grabs two
rubber gloves out of the box and puts them on.
HOLIDAY
(Kneeling Down)

TAYLOR
I want you to run one hand through
the lady's blood and run one hand
through this kid's blood.
Holiday runs her left hand through the blood on Karen's body.
HOLIDAY

TAYLOR

Holiday gasps.
HOLIDAY
It's like, caking up or something.
TAYLOR
Exactly, he died long before they
did.
Taylor and Holiday stand up. They remove their gloves.
HOLIDAY
So what's your word?
TAYLOR
The man and the woman, that's the
murder-suicide you recieved a call
about. But the kid, I think his
blood was used to write that
message.
HOLIDAY
Do you think he was murdered?
Taylor glances at Blake's corpse.
TAYLOR
Oh, for sure.
HOLIDAY
Okay, but now we need to compile a
list of suspects. But my question
is, who would do this? The Bailey's
were a well respected family here.
TAYLOR
Maybe it has something to do with
the disappearance of that girl.
HOLIDAY
That's a connection I never thought
of. Maybe we should start
interviewing some of the kids at
her high school, if they were
friends with her they're suspects.
Taylor looks Holiday in the eyes.
TAYLOR
Or they're targets.
Holiday and Taylor glance back at the corpse of Blake.

We should get them out of here,
start getting the scene cleaned up.
TAYLOR

Luciana sits in an office chair. She is rubbing her forehead.
Ramon stands on the other side of her desk.
LUCIANA
For Christ sakes Ramon, you've said
the same thing 3 times.
Ramon slams his hand down on her desk.
RAMON
Because I'm trying to express the
fact that this is extreme!
Luciana stands up.
LUCIANA
Don't you think I know that!? I'm
trying to prevent more people from
getting killed!
RAMON
It doesn't matter what we do! More
people are going to die, there's no
stopping that!
Ramon's phone begins ringing. Ramon groans.
LUCIANA
Who is it?
Ramon pulls his phone out of his pocket.

It's Holiday.
LUCIANA
Well, answer it!
Ramon answers the call. He presses the speaker button.
RAMON
Holiday, what's the good word?
HOLIDAY (O.S.)
There was a murder-suicide. But the
part we overlooked was that kid. He
was dead long before his parents
arrived.
LUCIANA
What are you saying?
HOLIDAY (O.S.)
I'm saying that there's going to be
more bloodshed. We need to start
talking to the students at the high
school, see if they have any
suspects.
LUCIANA
Alright, we'll be sure to do that.
Thanks for the call!
HOLIDAY (O.S.)
No problem, be safe you guys.
There's a bad storm rolling in.
RAMON
Don't worry, we will be.
Ramon ends the call.
LUCIANA
I guess you were right.
RAMON

Ramon starts for the door.

MORNING
Malcolm pulls a suitcase out of his closet. He unzips the
suitcase and lifts the flap. He lifts the suitcase and puts

INT. LANA MURRAY'S HOUSE - LANA'S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS


Lana Del Rey's "WATERCOLOR EYES" plays in the background.
Lana is packing a suitcase full of bikinis, sundresses and
sandals.
The door to her room opens. CAROLINE MURRAY (71) stands in
the doorframe.
CAROLINE
Where do you think you're going,
young lady?
Lana throws a dress in the suitcase. She turns to look at
Caroline.
LANA
I'm packing for my trip to Hawaii.
CAROLINE
That's cute, but you aren't going.
LANA
Tickets are non-refundable, so
yeah, I am going.
Lana zips up her suitcase. She makes her way towards the
door.
LANA (CONT'D)
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a
flight to catch.
Caroline blocks the doorway.
CAROLINE
You can't leave, the town's under
curfew.

Malcolm, Lana, Felix and Tanner are sitting waiting for their
plane to arrive. People begin walking out of a gate.
MALCOLM
I think that's us guys.
Lana, Felix and Tanner sit up. Malcolm yawns.
A woman's voice begins speaking over the speakers.
WOMAN 2 (O.S.)
Gate 5 is now boarding.
A large group of people, including Tanner, Malcolm, Lana and
Felix walk towards the gate.

I/E. PLANE - MOMENTS LATER


Malcolm shoves a small suitcase above his seat. He sits down
next to Tanner.
MALCOLM
Ready?
Tanner smiles.
TANNER
I'm ready for this vacation to
begin.

A man's voice begins speaking through the plane speakers.


MAN 1 (O.S.)
Welcome aboard your non-stop flight
to Honolulu. If you would pay
attention to the screen situated in
front of you, we will display a
short safety video for your flight.
The safety video begins playing
Malcolm shifts in his seat. Tanner glances over at Malcolm.
TANNER
You okay?
MALCOLM
I'm fine Tanner. Oh, I should have
mentioned this, but there were only
two beds in the hotel room, but
there is a pullout on the couch.
TANNER
Do you want the other bed or the
couch? Because it's a given that
Lana and Felix will take one of the
beds.
MALCOLM
That's funny because that's exactly
what I was going to say.
The safety video ends. The plane starts moving.
TANNER
Well, what's your choice?
MALCOLM
Whatever you want, Tanner.
The plane goes down the runway and then lifts into the air.

EXT. DANIEL K. INOUYE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - LATER


The sun shines brightly. Lana puts on a pair of sunglasses.
LANA
It's beautiful.
MALCOLM
Yeah, let's get our rental and head
to the hotel.

The car drives along the highway. Lana Del Rey's "FREAK"
blares from the car.

The car arrives at the hotel. Lana, Malcolm, Felix and Tanner
exit the car.
FELIX
Damn.
LANA
This place looks expensive.
MALCOLM

They walk inside the hotel.
