Limitation Section 1 Release Notes

Limitation
This version of Device Library Wizard does not support National Language Support
(NLS). All application windows of this tool are displayed in english language only.

Windows 2000 Operating Systems

The Device Library Wizard can be installed and used within all Windows operating
systems released for the ABB Industrial IT systems.
Device Type files as provided with *.zip extension can not be extracted via Device
Library Wizard on the Windows 2000 operating systems.
The limitation is only valid on PCs with Windows 2000 operating system and
Device Type files with the extension *.ZIP.
Device Type files with the extension *.EXE can be used without limitation.

The following procedure has to be performed:

1. Download WinZip tool from the webpage www.winzip.com
WinZip licenses are not subject to the ABB Industrial IT licensing arrangements.
Evaluation version of WinZip may be used for a limited time period free of
licenses, if not described otherwise.

2. Install the WinZip program on the PC with Windows 2000 operating system.
3. Double click on the Device Type file with the extension *.zip and extract it to
the following folder:
– For FOUNDATION Fieldbus:
<Installation path>\ABB Industrial IT\Engineer IT\ABB Device
Integration Library\FF Device Integration Library
– For HART:

4. Repeat step 3 till all required Device Types with zip-extension have been
extracted.
5. The extracted Device Types are now available in the Device Library Wizard for
installation.

Device Types
ABB cannot guarantee an operable ABB Industrial IT system, if device types,
installed with the Device Library Wizard, are modified manually. Only tested
software shall be installed on the system PCs. All software supplied in the Device
Integration Libraries or installed with the Device Library Wizard meets this
requirement.
The device types in the Device Integration Libraries are created by ABB and
tested for use in the ABB Industrial IT systems. ABB created these device types
based on data provided by individual device vendors (e.g. DDs, Device specific
DTMs and Asset Monitor behavior specifications), which ABB relies on as
accurately reflecting the actual device specification and behavior. Therefore,
ABB cannot assume liability for events that are caused by devices that are not
functioning according to fieldbus standards, or device specifications, or for events
that are caused by mismatches between the device behavior and the input data
provided by the device vendor.

Device Type Manager (DTM)

Device specific DTM may also include licensing, whereby the end user has to
purchase the license separately directly from the device manufacturer.
Licenses for device specific DTMs are not subject to the ABB Industrial IT
licensing arrangements. Please read the related device type release notes, whether
license agreements for DTM software must be considered.
