About the activity

Throughout world, science and technology advances have greatly impacted the
agriculture. so litrating farmers for using science and technology program was
organized by the student of jain institute of technology ,davangere on 2021.
population was rising day by day so to feed everyone, we will need a lot more food,
which makes agricultural technology incredibly important. Agriculture technology
is the use of science and technology to make agriculture(farming) better. this mean
a wide range of things, including preventing plant diseases, gathering data to
optimize crop yield, using resources like water more effectively, or even creating
more nutritious versions of vegitable!

Activity Highlight

Date: 09 of july,2021
Time: 2pm to 3pm
Venue: Malebennur

Aim and Objective

The main objective of this program is to upgrade and promote, protection,

preservation of agriculture using science and technology by following activities are
followed:

 Develop a perspective of the research process.

 Appreciate the utility of research, particularly applied research, in the
context of technical change which induces increases in productivity.
 Understand the reasons for low investment in agricultural research, even
though agricultural research brings to an economy a higher rate of return on
investments than many other investments.
Introduction
Agriculture has a rich tradition of embracing technology to improve crop
production, revolutionize how farmers run their business, and change the face of
rural communities. Innovations such as the invention of the plow, refrigerated
railcars, the internet, and the development of genetically modified crops all have
played pivotal roles in helping farmers become the most productive in the world

Agriculture is one of the oldest professions in history, and it has enjoyed many
advancements in innovation over the centuries. In that time, science has
become a large component of innovation and quality control in agriculture. If
you’d like to learn importance of science and technology in agriculture, we put
together a few reasons below. Centuries ago, our ancestors harvested their
crops and prepared their land by hand or with the aid of a horse-pulled plow.
Nowadays, farmers are using tractors, cultivators, cultipackers, harrowers,
irrigation systems, balers, and harvesters. When mechanization became a
reality in the world of agriculture, everything changed for farmers—specifically
their efficiency. The technology innovations in farming equipment allowed
farmers to complete tasks in significantly less time than it would’ve taken our
ancestors.ancestors.
Technologies on agriculture

1. Soil and water sensors

Perhaps the equipment having the most immediate effect are soil and
water sensors. These sensors are durable, unobtrusive and relatively
inexpensive. Even family farms are finding it affordableto distribute them
throughout their land, and they provide numerous benefits. For instance,
these sensors can detect moisture and nitrogen level.
2.Weather Tracking

Although we still make jokes about our local meteorologists, the truth is that
computerized weather modeling is becoming increasingly sophisticated. There
are online weather services that focus exclusively on agriculture, and farmers
can acess these services on dedicated onboard and handeld farm technology
but also via mobile apps that run on just about any consumer smartphone.

3.Satellite Imaging

As remove satellite imaging has become more sophisticated, it’s allowed for real
time crop imagery. This isn’t just bird’s eye-view snapshots but images in
resolution of 5meter pixels and even greater. Crop imaginary lets a farmer
examine crops as if he or she were standing there without actually standing
there.
4.RFID Technology

The soil and water sensors mentioned earlier have a set of foundation for
traceability. The industry has only begun to realize this infrastructure, but it’s
taking shape quickly. These sensors provide information that can be associate
with farming yields.

5.Vertical Farming

Vertical farming has been science function topic as far back as the 1950s and
perhaps further, and now it’s not only scientifically viable but will be financially
viable within decide. Vertical farm technology vertical farming a component of
urban agriculture is the practice of producing food in vertically stacked layers.
Benefits of science and technology in agriculture and farming:
 Higher crop productivity.
 Decreased use of water, fertilizer, and pesticides, which in turn keeps food prices down.
 Reduced impact on natural ecosystems.
 Less runoff of chemicals into rivers and groundwater.
 Increased worker safety.

Disadvantages of science and Technology in Agriculture and farming:

 Reduce the Fertility of the Soil. The excessive usage of technology in the fields
reduces the fertility of the soils. ...
 Lack of Education in Farmers. ...
 Use of Fertilizers and Pesticides. ...
 High Maintaining Cost. ...
 Environmental Damage.
Conclusion:

We the human being should know the science and technology in agriculture
for the better world consumption.
