Vasant Panchami 2022: Also spelled as Basant Panchami or known commonly as Saraswathi
Puja, Vasant Panchami marks the onset of the spring season and is a day dedicated to
Goddess Saraswathi, the Goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning.
Maa Saraswathi is a part of the Trivedi of Saraswathi, along with Lakshmi and Parvati. This
year, Basant Panchami 2022 will be observed on Saturday, February 5, 2022. The Panchami
Tithe during Vasant Panchami begins at 03:47 AM on February 05, 2022, and will end at
03:46 AM on February 06, 2022. Vasant Panchami Madhyahna Moment (noon) is at 12:35
PM, Feb 05. Devotees especially those in the education sector, be it students or teachers
worship Goddess Saraswathi on the day of Vasant Panchami to get enlightenment of
knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness, and ignorance to be able to have success
ahead in life.

of Saraswathi Puja, a ritual initiating education to children is performed known as Akshar-
Abhyasam or Vidya-Arambham/Praasana. Schools and colleges arrange pujas in the morning
to seek the blessing of the Goddess of knowledge.

Vasant Panchami Significance Students and academicians worship Goddess Saraswathi on


the day of Basant Panchami who is the consort of Lord Brahma - creator of the Universe.
Devotees install Goddess Saraswathi’s idols at pandals and educational institutes and pay ode
to her. Vasant Panchami is celebrated as a spring harvest festival celebrated in veneration of
the yellow flowers of ripened mustard crops which is why the color yellow also holds a great
significance denoting the colour of the mustard that is harvested during Basant Panchami.
Devotees consider the colour auspicious and wear clothes of yellow or mustard colour to
perform Saraswathi Puja that represents energy, knowledge and enlightenment. Homemade
Prasad and sweet delicacies are prepared such as Gujar Ka Halwa, Besan Ke Laddoo, and
foods specially in yellow colour and is offered to Goddess Saraswathi.

At Hindu College of Management the Programme is stated by offering prayer to Maa


Saraswathi. Students expressed their views about Vasanth Panchami.

Later student participated in An awareness about Vasanth Panchami Quiz conducted by


Mrs.D. Kalyani Assist Professor. Students were actively participated in the Quiz. High
Scorers’ were awarded by Dr.S.V. Ramana President Bharath Sikshan Mandal.
