Day #1 MONDAY ( March 7, 2022)
Ma’am Genelyn Santiago grouped us 60 Grade 12- Matikas students into 6 groups, whereas I
am grouped in Group 2. I also created a Group chat for Group 2 after the announcement of groups, after
that, we selected 1 group leader and 2 assistant leader. Whereas I am selected as the group leader. We
leaders also talk about the possible topic for our Capstone Project. Whereas noodles and chips are the
topics we choose, 4 of the group leaders chose Chips as their topic, while the other 2 groups chose
noodles. As soon as we decided the topic I already ask my groupmate on what are we going to choose
between noodles and chips.
Day #2 TUESDAY (March 8, 2022)
We’re still undecided on the topic that we’re going to choose. We did some research about
noodles and also in chips. We are also awaiting the decision of the leaders regarding the topic, if each
group can choose a different topic.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY (march 9, 2022)
I created a poll on our GC, whereas I let my groupmates decide if our topic would be noodles or
chips. After my groupmates voted, majority of the votes is Chips. Our next move is that we choose the
main ingredients we we’re going to use for our chips. We choose between kangkong (spinach) and
Squash kalabasa. We also did some research about kangkong (spinach) chips and Squash kalabasa chips ,
to increase our knowledge about it, and it will help us to choose between the two.
Day 4 THURSDAY (March 10, 2022)
We started to decide if it will be kangkong (spinach) or kalabasa, I created a poll again,
and let my groupmates choose/decide between the two main ingredients, majority of the votes is
Squash kalabasa. After we decided what the main ingredients will be, we talked about it, like, is it
okay to make chips out of klabasa? won't it soften when fried? On the same day, we decided to
test/try if you can be able to make chips out of Squash kalabasa. Since most of us are in the same
barangay and the distance between or house is not too far. With the safety protocol, we wore
facemask. We decided to cook it in our house. I told them that when they have squash, if possible
they will bring it. When we already gathered in our house, we started immediately. After we tried to
make chips out of Squash kalabasa, but it is not yet perfect, some of it soften and it never totally
became crispy, we have proven that you can make chips with squash kalabasa. So we decided to
stick with Squash kalabasa as our main ingredient.
Day #5 FRIDAY (March 11, 2022)
We decided to start our Capstone Project. We started in our Title and in introduction part. We
decided to do it online.
Day #6 MONDAY (March 14, 2022)
We started to search some related studies about Kalabasa chips, we found some. but we are
struggling on how we’re going start our introduction, on how are we going to arrange the ideas, but
with the help of the powerpoint that they gave to us, we figured it out.
Day #7 TUESDAY (March 15, 2022)
We gather here again in my house and I’m still fixing our introduction, while I ask
them(through online since some of my members can’t attend) to gather again some ideas and
research about chips. I also ask them to do our SOP (statement of the problem) if they can or they can
make a question based on our paper. I also asked them the history abut chips.
Day #8 WEDNESDAY (March 16, 2022)
I’m already finished fixing of introduction, so we moved on to the next part which is SOP,
and we did it quite easily since an example was given to us.
Day #9 THURSDAY (March 17, 2022)
I fixed and did our research paper on my own, but I do left them something to do.
Day #10 FRIDAY (March 18, 2022)
After I am done with the Assumption and hypothesis and Research Design
We decide to make our weekends our free time
Day #11 MONDAY (March 21, 2022)
Through online, I told them to list down the materials we will be using for our experiment,
and in the definition, it should be stated as what or how it is used in our experiment.
Day #12 TUESDAY (March 22, 2022)
We gathered again and I did check the list of the materials that they did, some has
grammatical error. (through online since some of my members can’t attend) I ask them to search
some commercialized chips and I also ask them to do the Cost Analysis part.
Day #13 Thursday ( march 23, 2022)
We decided not to it today, since some of my groupmates has some errands to do, I just
checked our research paper, fix some errors, and started to do the next part. I dii fix the Cost Analysis
that they did, and fix it on our paper.
Day #14 THURSDAY (march 24, 2022)
Through online since some of them had some errands to do, I just made them do/list some of
the procedures and had a meeting about what we are going to do tomorrow.
Day #15 FRIDAY (march 25, 2022)
We tried again to make chips out of squash, so we gathered again to test it. With the materials
and ingredients needed, with safety protocol, and our PPE (Personal protective equipment) like
apron, facemask, gloves, and hairnet. We did our usual procedure, the peeling of squash, remove the
inside flesh/seeds, cut it into 1cm thick but we didn’t fry it immediately, we place it of far apart in a
bilao and put in under the sun. and we’re going to wait for a day or two until it totally dried up.
Day #16 MONDAY (march 28, 2022)
The sliced kalabasa that we put under the sun is already dry, but we decided to work on our
paper through online, I started to do the Statistical tools part. We also had meeting for the cooking
trial
Day #17 TUESDAY (March 29, 2022)
We gathered again in my house for the cooking trial. We’re going to test if the dired kalabasa
can be a good chips and we also compare it to the newly open squash. We’re going to compare the it,
first is the dried squash that has flour and dried squash without flour and also the fresh squash that
has flour, and fresh squash without flour. And we observed that the dried kalabasa can easily be
cooked, we cooked it in a medium heat and it just stay there for 5-7 seconds but the dried kalabasa
(w/ and w/out flour) is already burnt, it also stays the way it is (wrinkled), it didn’t spread the way we
expected it to be. While the fresh kalabasa with flour turns out good, it didn’t wrinkled up maybe
because of the flour, we also waited until it turns golden brown, while the fresh kalabasa w/out flour
also turns out good, but it wrinkled up. Overall as the time passed by the dried kalabasa (w/ and
w/out flour) became tense to the point that it is difficult to chew, while the fresh squash (w/ and
w/out flour) turns out so good, but as time passed by, some of didn’t even crisp. So we are still going
to find out how will we improve our Squash kalabasa chips. But we’re going to stick on the fresh
kalabasa with flour, because between the four of them is the the best in terms of crispiness, taste, and
appearance.
Day #18 WEDNESDAY (March 30, 2022)
We gathered again to cook a bunch of chips on the method we chose, the fresh kalabasa with
flour. After we are with the cooking procedure and after we cooked it, we set it aside to coll, after
that we tried to pack it in a plastic bag and seal it using a fire. Here, our goal is to observe if the
crispiness will stay until tomorrow and until the next next day.
Day #19 THURSDAY (march 31, 2022)
We gathered again to finish our paper for the research proposal. We finish the Procedure
part, and also the remaining part which is not yet done.
Day #20 FRIDAY (April 1, 2022)
We went to school to pass our paper and to checked by si Ariel. And there are some errors to
be fixed, and also we learn something from him.
