Maaza (pronounced "Mahza") is a Coca-Cola fruit drink brand from India and market ed in Africa,
East ern Europe and Asia. It s most popular drink is it s mango fruit drink.[1]

The Union Beverages Fact ory, based in t he UAE, began selling it as a franchisee in t he Middle
East and Africa in 1976. By 1995, it had acquired right s t o t he Maaza brand in t hese count ries
t hrough Maaza Int ernat ional Co. LLC Dubai. Maaza was launched in 1976 in India and was acquired
by Coca-Cola in 1993 from Parle Bisleri along wit h ot her brands such as Limca, Cit ra, Thums Up
and Gold Spot . Maaza was acquired by House of Spices in 2005 for t he Nort h American market .
In 2006 Infra Foodbrands acquired Maaza for t he European, Caribbean and West -African market
and cooperat es wit h House of Spices for t he Nort h American market .[2]
Products
Init ially, Coca-Cola had also launched Maaza wit h orange and pineapple fruit drinks in addit ion t o
t heir mango drink, but t hese variant s were subsequent ly dropped. Coca-Cola lat er re-launched
t hese variant s in t he Indian market .
Maaza's mango drink compet es wit h Pepsi's Slice brand of mango drink and Frooti,
manufact ured by Parle Agro.
While Froot i was sold in small cart ons, Maaza and Slice were init ially sold in ret urnable bot t les.
However, all brands are also now available in small cart ons and large PET bot t les.
Maaza has a dist inct pulpy t ast e as compared t o Froot i and t ast es slight ly sweet er t han Slice.
Maaza claims t o cont ain mango pulp of t he Alphonso variet y, which is known as t he "King of
Mangoes" in India.
