INTRODUCTION
The concurrent fieldwork is for one month placement program scheduled in SHED
INDIA in the of month of December 01 to December 30. The team field work may be described
as gaining experience by utilizing knowledge and developing the skills to deal with the problem
of human being. The dictionary of sociology defines “social survey or process of collecting
primary data from a population distributed geographically”. Field education in social work is a
component of social work education programs where students learn to practice in social work
through educationally focused service experience in agency and community settings. Students
can also do field working administration, planning or policy development activities.

Field work in social work education means any kind of practical experience deliberately
arranged, for the education of the students who are undertaking the courses partly or wholly
designed for those who intended to become social worker. Field work comprises working with
the social welfare agencies, Non government agencies or any organization where involve in
helping individuals, groups or communities to enhance their social functioning or to enable them
to cope with problems. “Field work in a social work education is a guided interaction process
between student and a life situation”. Field work plays a pivotal role and provides the basis to
apply the theoriotical content covered in the classroom, to real-life situations as part of a
student’s preparation to become a professional social worker..........it also gives students the
opportunity to take responsibility for addressing people’s problems. “Field work in social work
in social work carried out in and through social welfare agencies and communities, where the
students learns skills, test our knowledge according to education plan.”

13. Administrative Structure:

The board of trustees is the apex body, the decision making body. Managing trustee is
the chief functionary, facilitator of the organization administration, facilitation of the projects.
Financial trustee is in charge of finance, accounts keeping, etc. Programme Officer is the person
who in charge for the facilitation of the projects, organizing trainings, documentation, reporting,
liaison etc for the organisation, Program Coordinator is being supported by the team of siddha
herbal practitioner, cluster coordinators, coordinators, health workers, programs in charge,
tailoring teacher, counsellors, documentation officer and other staff team. Kalanchiam Mannin
Kalaikulu members are honorary members, there are 22 members and they work honorary
depends upon its program schedule. The Kalanchiam team of resource persons and experts are
honorary members who work depends upon the needs of the organization.

SURVEY

SURVEY ON “FAN-CRS, A STUDY ON SOCIO ECONOMIC STATUS OF FISHER


FOLK IN TAMILNADU”

INTRODUCTION:

Survey research refers to a particular type of research design where the primary method
of data collection is by survey. In its simplest term, a survey refers to administration of
questions to obtain information about people’s behaviours, attitudes, and beliefs about a topic.
The trainee done the survey under the title ”FAN-CRS, A study on socio economic status of
fisher folk in Tamilnadu”. The survey is already completed the trainee’s work is to collect the
suggestions and feedback from the Cooperative society staffs and NGOs staffs those are working
for fishery community.

Date : 27.12.2021 to 30.12.2021

Day : Monday to Thursday

Area : Tamilnadu

(Pudukottai,Thanjavur,Thiruvarur,Nagapattinam,Mayiladuthurai,
Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Thiruvalur).

Methodology:

 Qualitative Method

Tools used Data collection:

 The interview schedule was used to collect the details from 10 districts NGOs staff
members and Fisherman cooperative society members.

Objectives:

 The trainee’s objective in the survey is to call and collect the suggestions and feedback
from 10 district NGOs.
 The trainee’s objective in the survey is to call and collect the suggestions and feedback
from 10 district Fisherman Cooperative Society.
 The trainee’s objective is to do the update the soft and hard copy of the collected details
and handover to the Programme Officer.

Samples:

 The trainee totally done 20 districts responds by interviewing them.

Implementing:

 The trainee planned on 27.12.2021 along with the programme officer to do the interview
schedule on the FAN-CRS, A study on socio economic status of fisher folk in Tamilnadu.
State level fishery department and Nathan Organization is combined in this survey.
SHED INDIA is the one of the agency initiating agency of this survey. The trainee
started to do the interviews with the NGOs members and Fisherman Cooperative Society
members in 10 districts of tamilnadu such as Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur,
Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu,
Thiruvalur. The trainee done all the interview and updated in the soft and hard copy gave
to the Programme Officer.

The above child is the one the childline-1098 case. When the child is begging the
information came to the childlie-1098 and then the child is rescued by the team member. The
child bring to the SHED INDIA office and started to collect the details and informed to his
brother and tell his brother to come to the office. Then the Project Coordinator, Executive
Director and team member started to know more about the child. Then Project Coordinator of
SHED INDIA handover the child to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The child had Hans
packet, Nicham Packet, Vivo mobile, charger, rupees 150 in his bag. The trainee supported this
childline-1098 case.

Rapport Building:

Rapport Building is the essential key for developing a relationship with the client. The
trainee got to interact with the child by asking general question to child which created a bound
between the child and the trainee. The trainee along with the Project Coordinator and team
members of SHED India started to build the rapport with the child.

Evaluation:

The child was hand over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and then the child was
leave in the home.

Follow-Up:

The team member and counsellor of the SHED India is regularly following the child.
Termination:

The child was take to the Child Welfare Community (CWC) by the Project Coordinator
sir. Then the child parents also asked to come to the CWC and they failed the case. And the
child is in the Home. And then the team members of SHED India will follow up that child.

Child History:

On 17.12.2021 child runaway with a boy who is in Lalgudi and married him. And his
parents informed to girl’s parents and then the girl’s parent went to Lalgudi AWPS and bring the
child to Thanjavur. On 20.12.2021 the girl came for the counselling session. The counsellor of
SHED INDIA gave counseling to that child. The child met that boy only for four times. The
collected all the details and moles about the child and informed to the counsellor mam. And then
along with the team member the trainee follow up that child marriage case at the office of SHED
INDIA. That child’s parent told the child is not taking food properly the counsellor mam advised
to eat and study properly. The trainee supported the staff members to this childline-1098 case.

Rapport Building:

trainee got to interact with the child by asking general question to the child which created a
bound between the child and the trainee. The trainee along with the counsellor of SHED India
started to build the rapport with the child.

Evaluation:

The child was hand over to the family members of the child and then the child was
advised to come for counselling regularly.

Follow-Up:

The team member and counsellor of the SHED India is regularly following the child.

Termination:

The child was advised to come to Childline-1098 office to attend to the counselling
session.

Office works:

The office works which was done by the trainee’s are chart work, child line-10989 case
register, district level connectivity sheet, action plan, out reach report work, school awarenesss
work, monthly childline-1098 case chart work, movement note work, newspaper cutting work,
special out reach report writing work, file work, TA form, calendar checking, arranging file
works, child line-1098 case updation work.

Survey works:

The survey works done by the trainee under the projects are Thozhi Project the purpose of
the Thozhi project is for working women, Kukumam Project the purpose of the Kukumam
project is for the Widow’s, A study on working conditions of labourers in Tamil Nadu the
purpose of this study is to find the labourers working in Tamilnadu, FAN-CRS, A study on socio
economic status on fishery folk in Tamil Nadu the purpose of this study is to finding the welfare
reaching the fishery community by the fishery department. The trainee supported and done these
project and survey work along with the SHED INDIA staff members. The major works done by
the trainee in the field work is survey works. The trainee involved and supported in all the
survey done by the agency.

Christmas Programme:

The trainee started to do the preparation work for the Christmas on 23rd December
morning by preparing and arranging the hall, refreshment, inviting the board members, Christmas
crib work, and the trainee in charge for the documentation work. The programme was started at
3pm and ended at 5.30pm. It was really a wonderful experience by organizing the the Christmas
day programme.

SHED India day:

On 30th December the trainee attended and supported the SHED INDIA DAY. It was a
23rd year of the SHED INDIA. The trainee arranged the hall, inviting the board members,
preparation lunch and the trainee done the documentation work. The trainee invited and arranged
the programme by inviting the family members of the SHED INDIA staffs. The programme was
started by 11.00am and ended at 6.30pm.

Open House Programme:

On 21st the trainee went to Cholapuram to do the preparation work for the open house
programme along woth the team member Ms. Shenbagamalar mam. The trainee got all the
permission officially in the school and village president and the trainee invited the resource
person for the open house programme. Then the trainee gave the awareness about the childline-
1098 to the village children.

The trainee conducted games for the children. Then the trainee on 22 nd went to
Cholapuram to conduct the open house programme. The trainee organized the open house
programme trainee arranged for the open house programme then the trainee once again invited
the resource person and then the trainee done the documentation work for the open house
programme. The open house programme was started at 03.00pm to 06.00pm. The open house
programme was based on the Childline-1098, totally 200 children were participated.

Programme for volunteers: (A study on working conditions of labourers in


Tamil Nadu)

On 1st December the trainee went to the training Venue, Diocesan Postoral Centre,
Bishop Sundaram Campus, Thanjavur. The trainee supported for the training programme for the
volunteers (A study on working conditions of labourers in Tamilnadu). The trainee supported in
registration work, Then the trainee attended the inauguration programme session. Then the
trainee supported for the tea break. Then the trainee done the profile form, travel form, travel
expenses form filling work. Then the trainee climbing the the travel expenses to the volunteers.
Then the trainee attended and supported for the feedback session./

World’s AIDs Day:

On 1st December the trainee attended and supported the World’s AIDs Day by lighting
the candle and praying for them and then the trainee along with the team took the pledge. Totally
100 volunteers were participated.

Meeting:

The trainee observed the monthly meeting on 2nd December. Then the trainee supported
for the weekly meeting, Reliance Foundation meeting, special staff meeting, Reporter meeting,
and Thozhi project meeting. Then the trainee went to the collector office along with the Project
Coordinator sir to attend the meet on Sexual Harassment women at working place (POSH Act).

Sexual Harassment women at working place (POSH Act):

The meet was held on 09.12.2021 at 11.05am in Collector office. It was a 8 th year of the
act. The speaker of the meeting is Ms.Rajeshwari (DSWO). DSWO madam started to explain
about the POSH Act, she explained how the act is working for the women. She told to form a
local committee and internal committee.

When any complaints come under sexual harassment of women at workplace will close
within 90 days. They already informed to form committee to 113 government office formed
committee. They informed 39 industries but no responses from them. Then Ms. Sarala (DLSO)
madam told about the act and the purpose of the act. Then DSWO madam introduced about the
SHE Box- online complaint management system.

Reliance Foundation Meet:

The Reliance Foundation meet was held on 02.12.2021 at 04.00pm and ended at
04.30pm. The Director of Reliance Foundation joint with the SHED India by distributing the
700 masks and 500 sanitizers to the community peoples, students, working women, formers etc...

Awareness Programme on Childline-1098:

The trainee attended and supported awareness programme on Childline-1098. The


trainee along with the team member done the awareness programme on Childline-1098 at Sacred
Heart Girls Hr. Sec School. Then the trainee supported for the awareness programme on
Childline-1098 at Bishop Devadoss Ambrose School along with the team members. Then the
trainee done the awareness programme on P.V Girls Hr.Sec School along with the team
members. The team members of childline-1098 will give knowledge about how to avoid the bad
touch from the strangers. Team member gave the explanation about how the childline-1098 is
working for the children.

The trainee observed, developed and learnt certain skills during field work which are

listed below, The trainee developed in communicating skill by interacting with the Government

Officials, staff members and different community people. The trainee well developed in the

observing skill by observing different situations.

The trainee developed in the listening skill by listening to different mind set peoples. The

trainee learnt more in organizing skill by organizing the open house programme, awareness

programme and meetings. The trainee learned planning skill by planning for all the daily

activities for the field work. The trainee developed the problem solving skill by solving the

problem acquired during field work. The trainee can able to maintain and manage all the

situation in individual. The trainee developed in adaptability skill by adapting all the situations

acquired during the field work days.

CONCLUSION

As a part of the curriculum system, social work trainee successfully completed the field

work days. Field work placement is an opportunity for social work trainees to practice and enrich

experience in practical manner. It was an excellent exposure to the trainee by travelling to

different communities and meeting different community peoples. The trainee was able to meet,

interact, observed and learn various people and staffs in the agency. Through this the trainee

experience the field work in good manner. Trainee gained more knowledge about the agency and

its functions. The field work gave an immeasurable experience to the trainee from SHED INDIA.
