How to Use a Digital Vernier Caliper
A vernier caliper is a versatile measuring tool that can be used to measure inside diameter,
outside diameter, and depth using a ruler with a sliding jaw that can be moved with a thumb
screw. This valuable tool will help you measure various items around a machine shop easily
down to .01mm. These 5 easy to follow steps will show you how to use one properly.
NOTICE Do not drop! Vernier Caliper may not measure accurately after a drop.
Recalibrate or return to manufacturer for repair or replacement.
Depth Measurement:
1. Place the depth rod over the hole being measured
2. OPEN the caliper by sliding the thumb screw clockwise
3. When the depth gauge stops, turn the lock screw
4. Read your accurate depth measurement from the two scales available,
using the LCD screen.
Using a vernier caliper is a precise way to measure the inside diameter, outside
diameter and depth of really anything down to .001mm. By following this set of
