CIRCULAR FOR THE PARENTS OF CLASS-VII

SUMMER HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT

Subject Enrichment Activity – Term I
Circular No. 2022-23/19 Date:29/04/2022

Dear Parent,
Greetings from DPS Bhopal !
Dear Parents,

Vacation is the time for the children to explore their myriad interest and indulge in various activities
which would lead to their all-round development.

The long summer break is a great opportunity to spend quality time together as a family, but it can also
lead to your child being intellectually under stimulated. The long summer break is a great opportunity
to spend quality time together as a family, but it can also lead to your child being intellectually under
stimulated. In an age of social media and Netflix, it’s easier than ever for our youngsters to spend their
downtime frying their brains in front of screens. While every child should be allowed their own time to
relax and recover from the stresses of school, it’s important not to let that behaviour dictate their entire
summer break. Holiday homework provides the perfect opportunity to keep their "school brain"
ticking over, and keeps them challenged and stimulated.

social emotional development. There are proven connections between enrichment activities and
academic success.

Adaptation and symmetry

We have seen how different insects and animals adapt to their surroundings to survive and how
symmetry and patterns work to save them from predators i. e.
The bold stripes pattern on zebra help it to hide in its background.
The symmetrical pattern on a butterfly also helps it to conceal itself in its surroundings. Find out
more about such animals and insects and present your findings in a stick file or scrapbook
supported with images (highlight the lines of symmetry or the pattern) and facts pertaining to the
particular insect or animal.

The indigenous people of Assam have practiced handicraft as profession since time
immemorial. The availability of raw material like bamboo and cane across the forests of Assam
has made the people practice this art as profession and this over time has ensured that the
people of Assam transform into adept craftsman. It's your turn to show some craftsman skills,
prepare a model of handicraft of Assam made up of bamboo sticks (eg- Pen holder, handloom
fan, wall hangings, photo frame etc) which shows the concept of symmetry and patterns.
