Instruction on how to take the medicine The recommended dose of Exforge 10mg/160mg is
one tablet per day.
• Exforge may be administered with or without
food.
• Exforge may be administered with other
antihypertensive agents.

Formulation of the medicine Exforge is a fixed combination of amlodipine and
valsartan.
Amlodipine
• Amlodipine besylate's chemical name is 3-Ethyl-
5-methyl(4RS)-2-[(2-aminoethoxy)methyl]-4-
(2chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-
3,5-dicarboxylate benzenesulphonate
• Its empirical formula is C20H25ClN2O5•C6H6O3S
and its molecular weight is 567.1.
Valsartan
• Valsartan's chemical name is N-(1-oxopentyl)-N-
[[2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl) [1,1'-biphenyl]-4yl]methyl]-
L-valine
• Its empirical formula is C24H29N5O3 and its
molecular weight is 435.5.

Medicine storage Bottles of 30 tablet / Blister pack of 30 tablet
1. Keep your tablets in the original container until it
is time to take them
2. Store them in a cool dry place below 30°C (room
temperature).
3. Do not store EXFORGE or any other medicine in
the bathroom or near a sink
4. Do not leave EXFORGE in the car or on window
sills.
Heat and dampness can destroy some
medicines. EXFORGE will keep well if it is cool
and dry.

Contraindications 1. Hypersensitivity to the active substances such as
Cellulose Microcrystalline, Magnesium Stearate
and Silica.
2. Severe hepatic impairment, biliary cirrhosis or
cholestasis.
3. Concomitant use of Exforge with aliskiren-
containing products in patients with diabetes
mellitus or renal impairment which the GFR is
less than60 ml/min/1.73 m2
4. Second and third trimesters of pregnancy
5. Severe hypotension.
6. Shock including cardiogenic shock
7. Obstruction of the outflow tract of the left ventricle
for example hypertrophic obstructive
cardiomyopathy and high-grade aortic stenosis
8. Hemodynamically unstable heart failure after
acute myocardial infarction.

Use in pregnancy and lactations Exforge are contraindicated during pregnancy which
can cause harm towards the fetus
Administration of angiotensin converting enzyme
(ACE) inhibitors to pregnant women during the
second and third trimesters has been reported to
cause injury and death to the developing fetus.
In addition, in retrospective data, first trimester use
of ACE inhibitors has been associated with a
potential risk of birth defects.
