• Strength of medicine is defined as the amount of drugs contained in a
drug.
➢ There are many types of strength for the fluconazole, but in this
discussion the strength of the fluconazole is 150mg/capsule.

• Dose of medicine is defined as the amount of drug that need to be taken
at once.
➢ For dermatomycosis, it is recommended to consume fluconazole
with dose of 150mg per week.

• Make sure the dose taken in based on the doctor’s prescription.
• For oral usage, patient require to:
➢ Swallow the whole capsule.
➢ Use water to ease to process of swallowing.
➢ Avoid chew the capsule to prevent leakage.

• There are multiple ways to administer this medicine depends on the
conditions. For dermatomycosis, the medicine was taken orally.

Contraindications • Patients that presented with hypersensitivity should not be recommended
this medication.

• For patient that already undergo terfenadine or cisapride medication
were contraindicated to take fluconazole.

Adverse reactions • Fluconazole may cause condition that affects the rhythm of the
heartbeat. Any prolong effects can be fatal and need medical attention.

• Fluconazole generally well tolerated but also could produce side-effects
associated with the usage of the medication such as:
➢ Rashes
➢ Nausea
➢ Diarrhea
➢ Abdominal discomfort

Use in pregnancy and Pregnancy:
lactation • There were several reports that caused spontaneous abortion after
consuming a 150mg of fluconazole.
• During pregnancy, the usage of fluconazole should avoid unless the
underlying disease would be threatening to the mother.
• For pregnant mother who were taken high dosage of fluconazole
(400mg/day to 800mg/day) may cause a congenital defect to the baby.

Lactation:
• During lactation, there is evidence of fluconazole substance found in the
breast milk.
• Breast feeding can be maintained after single dose of 150mg capsule.
 • Breast feeding are not advised after a repeated usage of fluconazole or
after high-dose fluconazole intake.
