Reflection of College Comp

Writing is a process and takes time to create a good piece. Many factors come in while

writing a good, well spoken essay. Word choice and grammar must be taken into account to

increase credibility while writing. You have to cite your quotes as well as have a separate work

cited page. MLA format must be followed. Including all of these examples and many more, the

writing process can seem like a lot, but can prove to be quite fulfilling when an essay comes

together. I learned that I can write well but, struggle to keep fluidity in my writing. I also have

issues with grammar and remembering certain rules. Overall, I would say my writing does the

job, which is expressing my thoughts, but is not really something I excel at.

I still need to work on my grammar skills. I get confused on many of the rules and have

trouble with punctuation. Comma rules especially confuse me. With grammar problems aside. I

also struggle with staying on track, keeping a consistent pace, and if I don’t write something in

one sitting, I end up forgetting what I was saying and changing what I was trying to say all

together.

The literally criticism essay was definitely my favorite assignment. I was able to read and

very interesting book. Then after completing the second read through was able to expand on my

thoughts about the book through writing. I enjoyed being able to hyper analyze such a good

book. Being able to attempt to be in the mind of the author. I also enjoyed, It’s a Wonderful Life.

It was a great movie.

In the future, I plan on working through my strict process for writing an essay which is

brainstorming, research, rough draft, edit/revise, final draft, revise, and repeat final two steps for

ever. I would use peer edit strategies that I learned in class and use similar strategies for

increasing word count. For research purposes, I will complete my work cited the same way I was

taught in class. I also like making my work cited before I’m completed with my essays because it

is always easier to delete unused sources.

Overall, I have learned a lot about myself and writing in class. I enjoyed many parts of

the class and hope that what I have learned prepared me for life after high school.
