REMARKS
1. Inlet Separator (1201V-001) size has been reduced (to prevent liquid overfill in Degassing Drum prior to gas blow-by from 1201V-001) compared to
the size used in this calculation.
1201V-001 size used in this calculation is conservative for relief valve sizing, calculation has not been changed to reflect final 1201V-001 size but it
shall be updated during detailed engineering by EPC Contractor.

KEY ASSUMPTIONS
1. The set pressure of 1201-PSV-0002A/B is 92.7 barg which has been used in line with the equipment design pressure (1201V-001).
2. Fire case calculated wetted area design margin for piping is made at 50% allowance as a conservative approach during FEED. EPC contractor
shall perform a detailed evaluation with piping isometrics to conclude the accurate fire load.
3. PSV Inlet/outlet line sizes are estimated to be 4" & 8" respectively, EPC Contractor to verify the line size based on the Vendor PSV installed rated
capacity and detailed piping layout.
4. 1201V-001 Nozzle to 1201-PSV-0002A/B is assumed to be designed at 4" N.B to match the PSV inlet line size so that inlet line losses to be
minimized and within the 3% of Set Pressure requirement. EPC Contractor to verify the separator nozzles size and update MDS accordingly.
SUMMARY OF RESULTS
1. Governing Case: FireGas Case

PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Any liquid aerosol content will be removed from NGL Feed gas by Inlet Separator (1201V-001) which is a vertical vessel that has mist eliminator at
the top. Mist eliminator is provided for the separator with a removal efficiency of 99% droplets to ensure supply of dry NGL Feed gas to Mercury
Removal Package (1201PK-001).
The liquid level inside the separator is controlled by ON/OFF Level controller (LC-0002) to drain off any excess oily water to Degassing Drum.
NGL Inlet Separator features two trains. The above system sketch is for Train 1 only and the corresponding Train 2 configuration is identical with
the exception that train number 1201 is replaced with train number 1202.

6. ACCUMULATION OF No N/A
NON-CONDENSIBLES
9. CONTROL VALVE FAILURE No LV-0002 fails open: It will allow more liquid drain flow with potential hazard of gas break-through to
Open or Closed Degassing Drum (1201V-002). There is SIF interlock (UY-0001) in the design to protect against gas
break-through to Degassing Drum. No overpressure scenario to the separator.
LV-0002 fails Closed: The liquid level in the separator will build up. This will not overpressure the
separator rather liquid carry-over with NGL Feed gas will occur.
Refer to Contingeny.1b (Closed Outlet Liquid).
10. ABNORMAL PROCESS HEAT No N/A - No process heat source in the system.
INPUT
15a. FIRE Yes Fire case scenario is applicable to 1201V-001 because it is located on grade (Ref. 3,4) so it is
Vessel with Partial Liquid Inventory enveloped in the fire zone. The separator is partially liquid wetted at the bottom.
15b. FIRE Yes This case might be applicable to 1201V-001 assuming NGL Feed Gas is normally dry and no liquid
Vessel Filled with Gas (No Liquid) collected at the bottom of the separator.
20. INERT GAS FAILURE No There is a Nitrogen Purge connection to the separator (Dwg. 2) however it is not hard piped, and the
design pressure of N2 system (11 barg, BEDD) is lower than PSV set pressure (DP=92.7 barg) so
no overpressure scenario.

BASIS OF CALCULATION Pressure Unit bar
To calculate the vapour relief rate from a partially filled liquid vessel or vessels connected within the same fire zone. The individual wetted areas
and the latent heat of vapourisation of the liquids are used to calculate the relieving mass flowrate assuming liquid levels provide sufficient liquid
disengagement, otherwise consideration is given to liquid expansion relief rate using FireLiqFull calculation.

2. For Horizontal vessels, the Cylinder Wetted Area is inclusive of both the heads.
3. It is assumed that Inlet Separator has adequate Drainage and Fire Fighting facilities (New Plant).
4. Inlet Separator BTL elevation is assumed to be 3.125 m above grade considering minimum elevation requirement for piping (1.0 m) and Hemi-

5. To determine Latent Heat of Vapourization, the Separator contained liquid (mainly water + hydrocarbon traces) is considered. Assumption is made
that the stream composition is mainly water with negligible traces of hydrocarbon materials.

To calculate the vapour relief rate from a vapour filled vessel exposed to fire. The basis of relief is the gas expansion rate from the heat input over
the surface area exposed to fire. This assumes that relief occurs prior to vessel rupture.
