and Technology
Project proposal template
In producing the project proposal, and in preparing for the project realisation you should
familiarise yourself with Unit 8 of the qualification.

In particular, you should understand the assessment and grading criteria which will be
used to determine standards of achievement.

Unit 8 requires you to produce a project proposal of about 350 words, excluding the
project action plan and bibliography. Project proposals should not be so succinct that
they do not address the requirements listed below, nor should they be excessively long
and unfocused.

Your project proposal should be sufficiently challenging to ensure you have the best
possible chance of meeting the grading criteria.
Your project proposal should include:
 Centre name and number
 Candidate name and number
 Project proposal title and date
 Main area of activity/ pathway

The project proposal must be word processed and presented under the headings listed
here:

Section 1 - Rationale
(Approximately 150 words)

Section 2 – Project concept

(Approximately 200 words)

Section 3 - Evaluation
(Approximately 150 words)

Additional requirements, not included in the 350 word limit of the proposal:

Project action plan and timetable:

This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation
over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to
successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought
you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.

It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will
do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other
resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when
you will carry out independent study.

Bibliography (Harvard Format):

This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research
sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use.
Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries,
galleries, books, magazines, films, computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio
programmes
, archive material etc. Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard system of
referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

Section 1: Review (Approx 150 words)

Over the last two years at Weston College I have learnt and then developed loads
of skills from filming and editing to pitching my idea to a panel. This includes
researching, camera operations, presenting, social media and production
processes such as storyboards and industry budgets. I have also had new
experiences with industry placement opportunities where I was able to run social
media accounts by creating and scheduling posts using Later and canva.com. This
helped my confidence and improved my professionalism. Before I enrolled on this
course I didn’t know what a Sony x70 camera even was and now I can set it up,
understand it and maximise all the settings. The main skill I would like to improve
further throughout the rest of the project is editing using Premier Pro as I’m not as
confident using this software compared to Final Cut Pro.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)
The aim for my advertisement campaign is to create an original unisex fragrance
that isn’t already on your TV. The majority of perfume and aftershave adverts are
sexulised, fragrance companies have to sell the lifestyle behind the smell however I
want to sell the feeling that comes with my fragrance. The brand I have created is
called Us. it’s not for him or for her it’s for you, whoever you may be. I want my
campaign to celebrate diversity and inclusion rather than having an attractive
celebrity promoting it. My first TV advert is going to be set in the TV studio and
focusing on diversity using the advertising technique, repetition. Ive watched loads
of YouTube videos which has helped develop my research and understanding of
what I actually want to create, for example the Daisy by Marc Jacobs advert uses
the technique repetition to make it stick in the viewers head and I want to use that
as inspiration for my advert. My second TV advert is going to be set in several
different locations such as, fields and beaches focusing on self confidence and self
love. I’m also using social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
to promote my product to a younger target audience.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx 150 words)
For every step of the process I’m going to document my ideas development,
research and the progress from the very beginning to the final edit. I will reflect on
all the YouTube videos I have watched, as YouTube is my main source of learning
and research. I’m going to record all of the behind the scenes throughout the whole
process such as during the filming and editing weeks. As I’m working independently
on this project I’m going to create focus groups and surveys to develop my primary
research and see what other people think I should improve. For every problem I
come across I will review and resolve on my Weebly. Everything I have learnt over
the last two years I’m going to use to my advantage to make sure I achieve a
distinction.
