Check list for Practicals:

GENERAL:
1. Apron (ensure if it’s in bag)
2. Hall ticket
3. Number batch ( it is preferable to have a number plate – presentable too)

Medicine: ** (Some- faculties)


 Stethoscope ( if you are on Classic 3, make sure to change bell for medicine)
 Torch light – big one
 Pen torch (depends)
 Inch tape
 BP apparatus
 A white skin marker or a simple white marker (imp)
 Two scales (JVP)
 Thermometer (some are ok with digital and some with manual – depends)
 Knee hammer ( again which one to use is subjective)
 CNS KIT
- Two small opaque bottles ( coffee powder and camphor, some also prefer to add clove)
- Two small transparent bottles ( sugar and salt solution, some also prefer to add para tab)
- Two test tubes ( cold and hot water)
- At least 5 to 6 cotton swabs or ear buds
- At least 5 to 6 pieces of gauze pieces
- Tongue depressor ( again depends)
- Cotton
- Pin to check pain (some prefer lancet)
- Tuning forks ( both the frequency)
- Visual acuity ( we usually manage with bed side tests)
- Colour vision ( some really prefer us to carry Ishihara chart along – highly DEPENDS)
- A key ( very very important according to some and usually neglected)

Surgery:
 Almost all stuffs from medicine except for some exclusion from CNS kit
 A pair of gloves ( ulcer case )
 Illuminoscope
 Tourniquet ( 5 to 6 will do)

Paediatrics:
 Steth ( on classic 3, bell diaphragm change)
 Same stuffs as for medicine
 BP apparatus will be provided (as said)
 A wall marker ( preferably colour pencils )
 Growth charts (again, depends) – some emphasise their need and some don’t but we were thought form
our initial days to carry them along and HOD prefered it. Better to carry and more preferable is percentile
charts. IAP-WHO combination charts are the ones that we use and they give place for BMI, HC and so on,
but some don’t really bother on usage of WHO-SD charts .
 Ballard’s scoring chart- (important, preserves time)
 Development assessment chart
 A hand sanitiser is expected here (as said by seniors)
 Small sheet of paper ( for calculation and if the child has to draw and stuffs)
 Colourful toys, chocolates
 Cubes ( depends)

Obstetrics and Gynaecology:


 Same for medicine except for few stuffs
 Skin marker (important)
 Inch tape, torch light, BP apparatus, thermometer
 A small piece of paper
 ASK BLOOD GROUP OF THE PATIENT * CONSENT as well. .

NOTE: It’s good to help, but make sure what all things you give to others after completing specific practicals and
what all things to ask for form others for our upcoming practicals. (CAUTION ON EXCHANGE)
