Re (External) G.L. Hunt - Mcvea - Wyoming St17.
I see. Thank you for clarifying. We will be happy to repair any issues that fall under our scope
of work. I'll reach out to another engineer to see if someone is willing to step in and do a full
evaluation on this home. Once an inspection has been done we will repair anything under our
warranty and scope of work to the home. We can not repair wood or level that area of the
home until the homeowner chooses to replace the wood in that area as our bid stated. I'll reach
out to a few engineers and get back to you all by the first of next week. Thank you and have a
great weekend!
Yes sorry Wendy, I am a city residential building inspector and not an engineer, my email
only addresses the most obvious telltale signs of a severe foundation failure. Mr. McDonald
only requested that I send you an email noting what we observed the day of our site visit.
Again I don’t know the specific’s of your contract with Ms. McVea. Please feel free to
discuss your options with Mr. Jeremy McDonald. Thanks Gregory
To make sure I understand, so you did not crawl under the home to see that our work was
completed? We did not backfill the home with dirt. We did the repairs and were able to get
in the crawlspace as you see it now. If the floors are not level and the sonotubes we installed
need to be adjusted then we would absolutely do that. However, the customer was provided
a bid for joist and wood would need to be replaced to get the home more level in the back
left room. So I'm having a hard time understanding if the property wasn't crawled, how can
you know with absolute certainty what is needed?
Good morning Wendy, I was not able to enter access to crawl space it was back filled
with dirt. The separation I’m referring to is on the right side of the home; the 2” cast iron
DWV has separated.
Good morning Hayden, As you know we made another site visit to 1006 Wyoming St.
Our concerns were not with any of the cosmetic aspects of the home but rather its
structural elements. During our visit there was no question that the floors were not
level, doors and windows were misaligned not properly functioning, there was some
plumbing separation that had occurred, and last but not least there was obvious signs of
twisting and bending of framing members. These are all indications of severe
foundation failure. With this being said, I would recommend completely re-leveling the
home to re-establish the homes stability and structural integrity. Please let us know your
thoughts and intent for resolving these particular issues? Thanks Gregory
Mr. Lehman,
The initial scope of work involved removing and replacing 45 existing Sonotubes and
installing 142' of skirting. I have attached the original invoice and the repair plan.
Thanks,
Hayden Slack
Thank you Hayden, I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. I have gone
ahead and called the Engineer of Record Mr. Christopher Hewitt as you
recommended. I am presently waiting for a response to my voice message left with
his office. As we wait; would it be possible for me to see a copy of your original
scope of work? This will hopefully ensure that everyone is on the same page with any
repairs needed from issues identified during the revisit inspection. Thanks again,
Gregory
I believe we spoke a few weeks ago regarding Ms. McVea. You referred me to
Jeremy McDonald who is in charge of the strike force.
Jeremy and I spoke and I communicated to him that G.L. Hunt is more than willing
to rectify any issues that remain within our original scope of work. I recounted our
experience with Ms. McVae including the numerous times she has accused us of
working on behalf of some shadowy organization that is determined to harm her. I
also told him that she harassed an existing staff member via text message. As a result
of her actions, we will not be communicating with her directly ever again.
We discussed how to move forward in a way that would allow me to keep my staff
safe.
I recommended to Mr. McDonald that we would like the city to have the engineer of
record (G.L. Hunt will pay the fee) revisit the property, identify any issues and
provide a line item list of recommended repairs for issues that fall within our original
scope of work.
Thanks,
Hayden Slack
