What was the trigger for having an interest in Japan?

The first language that I learned was Japanese, as I was residing in Japan till kindergarten, even after I
returned to India I was in close proximity to the Japanese culture. I learned Japanese on and off till 9 th
grade whereupon I started learning Japanese seriously and even did a one-month cultural exchange
program in which I lived with a Japanese host family and attended the public school. I really liked the
discipline with which Japanese people lived their lives, I found it in stark contrast with the Indian culture.
My love of anime, mangas, and Japanese music also contribute to the reasons for my interest in
Japan.

What kinds of things do you think you can contribute to Japan and your home country through your
experience of studying in Japan?

I will be able to contribute to both India and Japan by acting as a bridge between the two countries.
There is a very prominent gap between India and Japan, be it its work culture, law, or view on crucial
aspects of a business. Overall I would say that because of the difference in the mindsets and the
fundamental difficulties between the two countries, a mediator who understands both sides is needed
for prosperity between India and Japan. For example, the culture and mindset about the payments cycle
are very different in the two countries, in my opinion, this difference arises due to the fact that the
interest rate in banks is comparatively higher in India than in Japan. Another major constraint is the
views that the countries have on automation, Japan being pro automation and India being resistant to it.
I feel that this is due to the differences in population which makes human labor cheaper than buying
machinery in India. There are many such problems that arise simply because of the circumstances and
the way things operate in the two countries, therefore there is a need for mediators to communicate
between the two countries and help solve these problems. By studying in Japan I will be exposed to how
things work in Japan and will be able to better assist the two countries.
