Activity1: Art Integration Project

Class: S4
Marks: 10
Topic: Surface Areas and Volumes

Guidelines:
 Read chapter13 of your text book to learn about’ Solid Shapes’ and
‘their Surface areas and Volumes.
 Browse internet and collect information about 3D shapes, how their
surface areas and volumes are calculated and what is the application
of these concepts in your real life.

Instructions:
(A) This is an individual activity:

(B) Choose any one of the following Tasks:

1. Poster/ Collage Making:

Guidelines for the poster:
 The poster should be handmade, on an A3/A4 size sheet
 Choose any two shapes given in your chapter.
 The poster should explain the surface area and volumes of any
two three-dimensional shapes and their applications, with lots
of illustrations.
 You can paste these shapes made by paper folding, etc
 The poster can be in form of a collage also.
 You can make the posters using different techniques like paper
quilling, best out of waste material, eco-friendly material,
calligraphy, paper folding and pasting,etc
 There should be a slogan pertaining to the poster. The slogans
have to be original and creative.

2. Math-Digest (a MatheMatiCal Magzine)

Guidelines for preparing the magazine for maths
 Take a colourful A3 size sheet and fold it lengthwise to get four
pages. This will be your base for the magazine:
MATH-DIGEST.
 The first page should show the types of three-dimensional
shapes and give a brief explanation about them
 The second and third page should give details about the surface
area and volumes of any two three dimensional shapes given in
your chapter.
 The fourth page should have applications of surface area and
volumes of these shapes in our daily lives.
 The magazine should be made in an interesting and creative way
with lots of illustrations and representation of these shapes in a
cartoon form, etc. as in a real magazine
 You will also include some puzzles, riddles, jokes, word search,
crosswords, etc related to this chapter.

3. ViDeo Making:
Guidelines for making the video:
 The child can record a video of minimum 10 minutes explaining
the topic of surface area and volume of any two shapes using
self-made teaching aids like shapes by paper folding, paintings,
etc
 The video should be recorded in atleast two parts of 5 minutes
each, to avoid the problems of uploading.
 The child should himself/herself explain the concept in that
video…in a clear and detailed manner, using the props made.

4. CoMiC striP:
Guidelines for the comic strip:
 Choose any two three dimensional shapes for the comic strip
 Make cartoons / comic characters of these and explain their
surface area and volumes in a creative manner.
 The comic strip should be made on an A3 size sheet or two A4
size sheets joined together.
(C) You can use various art forms like- Paper folding, sketching,
drawing, painting, Paper Mache, Poetry, Quilling, Calligraphy, etc

(D) Prepare a PPT (6-7 slides) on the following topics and post
on the assignment that will be created on the Microsoft teams,
by the due date.

SLIDE 1: Cover page (Name , class, topics)

SLIDE 2,3,4: A summary of Surface area and Volume of any two solid
objects with examples.
SLIDE 5: Scan the work done by you from the above listed tasks, paste it
on this slide. If you have made the video, then upload it here.
SLIDE 6: Reflection sheet: In about 100-150 words write down your
learnings related to the two solid shapes you have studied and their usage
in daily lives. You can use various pictures for the same.

assessMent:
 PPT will be mainly evaluated on the basis of content along with the
following parameters on 5-point scale:
o Timely Submission
o Creativity (Use of diverse art forms)
o Presentation of your selected task
o Originality
o Content
 Content must be explained in your own words. Content cut, copied and
pasted directly will not carry any weightage.
Activity2: Assignment
