EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This paper contains the design and modeling of waste plastic bottle strip machine. In this
proposal, we introduce the concept of waste plastic bottle strip machine which is vital for the
transfer of technology as a whole for the safety of comfort and use. Plastic is severe pollutant to
environment so we must recycle it. The excessive garbage waste of plastic is the major problem
of our country and plastic bottle is one of them. The available machine used to recycle this waste
is very costly. Our abstract is about the design and modeling of waste plastic bottle recycling
which would help to Convert the plastic bottle into plastic strips and their by help in waste
management. This project is like the plastic Bottle crushing machine, where we convert a plastic
container into plastic strips. The strips are cut with the help of Blade and send further with the
help of motors. It can generate various sizes of strips of the multiple sizes of bottles. The strips
having various applications in households and industrial use. It would also help in reducing the
volume of waste generated and will thus help in effective waste management. In this work, PET
bottles are cut into strips, twisted and heated into a rope using an automated machine which
consists of a cutting unit, temporary plastic strip storage unit and a strip joining unit. The work
thus aids not only in solving the ill effects caused by disposed plastic bottles but also helps our
society move towards sustainability.

CHAPTER ONE

1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND
Plastic is a polymeric material that can be easily shaped or molded. It is derived from the
polymers present in the natural materials like plants, minerals, oil, coal and natural gas. Polymers
are a large group of monomers linked together by a chemical process called Polymerization. But
the contamination of the polymerized product (Plastic) in lands and water bodies cause serious
impact on environment. Reduce, reuse and recycle is some of the most important actions
currently taken to reduce these impacts and represents one of the most dynamic areas in the
plastics industry today.
THE Present Paper Describe the Research and Analysis of cutting machine for the reusing plastic
strip. In the plastic industry making the plastic strip for packing material and box strapping. This
project is focused on the principles of reuse of waste plastic bottles by converting them to ropes.
A possible reuse of PET water bottles is the transformation into strips. The Strip thus obtained
helps to solve domestic problems, replacing prime materials for use as wires, Strings or chords,
or industrial problems such as straps for packaging. The strip is useful for manual work usually
carried out with threads and may be applied to processes for making baskets, mats and knitting
with needles or weaving with a loom.
This type of plastic strip is made by using hot air gun but if there is any impurity in the plastic
material then the plastic strip making process is cut-off and there is some misuse of the plastic
material as strip. For reusing of the wastage plastic strip commonly the softening cycle is
utilized. But it is economical and more time-consuming process. The effort of the machine is to
make strips of plastic bottles of the plastic from waste of plastic material in short span of time
with less cost. We chose to make this machine since plastic is not a climate free material and it is
squandered all that anyone could need. So, with the assist it with canning limited up to certain
and explicit cut-off. Along these lines this undertaking will end up being a valuable resource
from various perspectives.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Plastic bottles are bad for your health. Plastic bottles contain BPA which makes the plastic
bottles clear and hard. It has been linked to a number of problems which includes types of
cancers, neurological difficulties, and many more problems. The tops of plastic bottles are not
recyclable. These tops usually end up in landfills or in the ocean. In the ocean some marine life
mistakes these caps for food and end up eating them. The animal’s digestive system cannot
digest this plastic and they end up dying from it getting stuck in them. Plastic bottles require
huge amounts of fossil fuel to make and to transport them to places. It also takes a lot of oil to
make a plastic bottle. Imagine filling a bottle up to twenty-five percent. Most plastic bottles are
not recycled so it is important to recycle them after use. This may not be as helpful but it is still
important to try to help. Due to this problem we can help by recycling the bottles after use. These
products can generate income to improve the lives of people living in poverty. In addition to this
in improving this design we can decrease the amount of plastic trash accumulation by
repurposing it to create desirable goods. Plastic also takes more than a human lifetime to
decompose.

CHAPTER TWO

LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 HISTORY OF PLASTIC BOTTLE
Now days the plastic is one of the most used material in world wide. There are advantages and
disadvantages of plastic, but the disadvantages are more than advantages. The most serious
disadvantages of plastic are, it takes too many years to decompose more than 400 years and this
is too much. So there is need of recycle the plastic to reuse and to decrease the Use of plastic.
This product is used for cutting and crushing plastic in small pieces to make waste management
easier. We are making this project model for recycling of plastic wastage in domestic area,
industries etc. in these areas the plastic waste is present in large quantity. But the available
machines used to recycle this waste are very costly. So our intension behind this project is to
process the plastic waste as cheap as possible by shredding. Benefits of this machine are the
reduction of labor work which results in cost reduction. So we are going to design this for shred
the plastic waste, with the help of blades. [Volume 4]
Since plastic is considered as environmentally hazardous material, various programs aimed at
educating the community on the impact of plastics pollution and consumption have been
continuously conducted. Furthermore, the relationship between culture and community behavior
regarding single-use plastic bottle consumption is important to be investigated for mitigating
plastics pollution. The purpose of the current research was to investigate the quantity of single-
use polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-based plastic bottles are used daily and how communities
are managing them in the waste stream. [3]
2.2 PLASTIC BOTTLE RECYCLING TECHNOLOGY
T.M Coelho, J.A.Gobbo Jr.(2011)."PET containers in Brazil: Opportunities and challenges of a
logistics model for postconsumer waste recycling." Resource, Conservation and Recycling. This
thesis describes the opportunities and challenges of the logistics model for post-consumer PET
bottle recycling in Brazil, while providing knowledge of its practices along the recycling chain.
The Results describe the need to educate those directly and indirectly involved in the process; to
reduce consumption in order to reduce the amount of waste generated; to structure the
postconsumer reverse chain and engage industrial sectors and government, through public
policies, to support cleaner technologies along the PET Bottle production chain.
Miguel Friedenbach, Buenos Aires (AR) May 13, 2004, “Tool for cutting Used Containers of
Recyclable Plastic Material into Ribbons.” A tool for cutting PET bottles and the like into
ribbons. The tool includes a tool head having an opening, a cutting blade housed inside the
opening and a slot open above and extending perpendicular to the plane of the blade, downwards
through the tool head a short distance past the blade. The blade has a sharp edge across the slot.
The slot receives the edge of the bottle Obtained by cutting off the bottle bottom or the funnel
and spout thereof. The edge is inserted in the slot and the bottle turned so that the blade cuts
through the bottle following a spiral path and producing a ribbon of PET material at an outlet
side of the slot.
"Matatas”. "PET String cutter (string from plastic bottles)." Instructorless Retrieved 2015. This
is an intractable website for a PET Bottle Strip Cutter Design. It consists of a cutting blade
secured in place by two stacks of washers around a threaded rod held in place by a wing nut. A
Bottle of various sized is pre-cut and placed between the two threaded rods, which support its
weight. Once In place the precede is pulled out as string, turning the bottle so that the blade
continuously cuts through the bottle. Strings Of varying width can be made by adjusting the
height of the blade from the wood platform.
2.3 MODIFICATION OF PREVIOUS THESIS WORK
Our outcome is basic simple to build bottle strip making machine that meets all the objective
boundaries. New modification improves all the issue looked in existing work. The as it were one
there residual markers to be estimated that we don't anticipate meeting is target of 80% reused
material. Eventually, our modification focused on increasing number of cutter and we motorized
the cutter machine over the utilization of reused material and we accept that some of moderately
reasonable materials required structure; the last modification work is as yet open to those with
restricted livelihoods. The new modification of plastic bottle strip making machine is resolved to
utilize plastic waste and keep trying different things with business items produced using PET
Plastic strips. We accept that the eventual outcome of this task will be of incredible advantage to
the middle and their objectives. We are extremely satisfied with the last new modification made
for the bottle strip making machine and the modification cycle as a rule. The new modification is
basic, simple to build and utilize, solid, modest, and most amusing to utilize.
CHAPTER THREE

DESIGN AND ANALYSIS

3.1 STUDY AND WORKING PRINCIPLE
The process to convert plastic bottles into strip is basically divided into two parts.
A) Bottle base cutter
B) Bottle strip making machine
a) Bottle base cutter: Firstly the bottle of any suitable size is put inside the cutter from the
extreme end and clamp is provided for proper fixing of the bottle which is closed after bottle -
enter. The cutter is fixed according to the size of bottle and later bottle is rotated and in single
rotation base is remove from the body.
b) Bottle strip making machine: The cutter bottle is put inside the vertical rod and deadweight is
applied on the bottle for proper fixing and downward movement. Cutter blade is provided at the
bottom of the rod for strip cutting in horizontal direction. Blade is making 5-degree angle with
bottle to cut strips easily. The cutter strips are then goes into the pressure roller after heated by
hot air gun at certain temperature; the work of pressure roller is to straight strips with
combination of heat and pressure. Further roller is rotated and the strip coming out from
pressure roller and fixed into the wounded on other end. Later as the motor starts pulley starts
rotating leading to cut strips smoothly and cutter strips are collected on the wounded drum. A
plastic bottle strip cutter machine is makes the use of plastic bottle waste while also producing
raw material for users to create new products for many purposes.
3.2 MECHANISM OF WASTE PLASTIC BOTTLE STRIP MAKING MACHINE
The plastic bottle strip shaper machine is the development rendition of existing strip shaper
machine that conquer the whole issue brought up in that plan. It is made of the vertical shaft in
which the container is embedded with extra weight which gives tension on bottle to eliminate
strip while turning. At the lower part of shaft having a flat shaper sharp edge fixed by nut and
screw. The distance of the sharp edge from lower part of fixed place of edge is change by fixing
the nut. The shaper cutting edge is somewhat making a point to even this will straight
forwardness to cut strip from bottle. The client needed to cut the lower part of the bottle and
addition in the vertical shaft and put the extra weight over it. Pivots the bottle to pull the piece of
strip from shaper edge. The beginnings finish of strip pull and tight to opposite end where the
pulley and motor game plan in which all bottle strips is wound. As the engine turn over pivoting
the pulley twisted all strip eliminate from bottle. This plan permits delivering diverse size of
container that is formed with changing measurement. The right now bottles accessible in the
market are having changing breadth with complex shape can be effectively cut by this container
strip shaper machine. The width of strip can be change from 5mm to 15mm simply by fixing and
spoil the nut on the cutting edge. Subsequently the outcomes are predictable, the plan permits
distinctive plastic strip sizes obliges diverse bottle sizes with changing width, capacity to
supplant the shaper sharp edge, easy to deal with, less man work contribution.
