He enrolled in the Ateneo Municipal University. Rizal was discriminated against by his classmates and
professors, primarily because he knew little about Spain and was from Calamba, Laguna. He was also a
late enrolee, which compounded the problem. Despite the horrible events that occurred during this
time, he also had positive experiences. The Jesuits considered them in terms of pedagogical issues such
as discipline, character development, and religious instruction. As a result, he learnt the true worth of
education in a person's life, as well as how to stay strong in the face of all the people who tried to bring
him down. He also went through his panization, which helped him speak Spanish better than he could in
his own language, Filipino. "To the Filipino Youth," he wrote. In his poetry, he taught the audience about
the reality, which is that Filipinos must rise up and be proud of who they are, rather than being slaves to
others. He also emphasized the well-known remark that our country's kids are its hope. Finally, he
expressed his gratitude to God and praise for our country's youth, adding that no matter where he goes,
he will always be proud of Filipino youth.
