Dear Lt. Col. Frank P.

Mease,
I just received orders assigning me to the 1st Battalion 1st Marines and I am
writing to introduce myself. Enlisting in the military was always a big future that I
wanted to have since I can remember. As a kid I was always interested in the
Marine Corps as I grew up in a household that included a cousin that wanted to
become a United States Marine. Watching him grow up into the Marines
influenced me to be put on that path. When my cousin moved forward to become a
Marine and came back from his deployment, all he could tell me was that it’s a
good choice to make as it provides you with stories, unforgettable memories,
benefits, and a brotherhood that could never be forgotten and that was the reason I
ended up wanting to join. As well as this, above everything serving my country is
the utmost priority.

My reason for why I should be in the Marine Corps is because my leadership skills
have been worked on throughout my life and they demonstrate what’s necessary to
follow directions and eventually being able to carry on and be a commanding
officer of my own. I’ve been part through the poolee program and even completed
programs through the Marines to learn about the true duties of a soldier. I am a
good option for being in this platoon because all I care about is making sure we’re
doing what we’re supposed to be doing and making sure that we are prepared. I’m
prepared to come for anything and everything we have to do, I have prepared
myself through doing a pilgrimage where everything was limited making me have
to work with limited resources so I was more cautious with what I used. I’m ready
for all of the hardships and everything that this job brings because without that
you’re never gonna be ready for anything that comes your way.

I have many qualifications for why I would be good for this platoon. I am a United
States Soccer Federation Licensed Referee for Soccer up to Adult Coed gameplay.
I am also currently a Line Cook at the restaurant Skipolini’s in Oakley, CA.
Extracurriculars that I’m part of are soccer, Latinos Unidos, Youth Group, and
being a volunteer for the church Immaculate Heart of Mary. I was an intern for
Garin Elementary School for 2 years. I also play soccer for a U25 Men’s Soccer
League in Antioch ,CA. As well as this I would also consider going to PT in the
morning a pathway to going into the military. I do individual workouts as my own
motivation to be better and to prepare myself for anything that might come from
this and anything that I might be asked to do in this position.

For my job preferences I would like something culinary. Being a cook has always
been a passion of mine since I was young and this has been something that I want
to pursue in the civilian world after my term has completed. Being a cook or any
kind of culinary experience would be a big preparation for me because doing this
would carry on into my future career. Having a restaurant would be a really good
career for me after the military and getting a job in that department would be good
for me because it’s needed to gain those skills in order to fulfill my dream of
becoming a manager of a restaurant. My commitment to this is a final reason why
I’m good for this platoon. Not only have I prepared everything culinary I have for
this platoon, I have more things to be able to offer as well.
