STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

In response to the Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3B’s Initiative) issued through
DepEd Memorandum No. 173, s. 2019, the External Partnerships Services has
committed to make every learner a reader by engaging partners and stakeholders
to promote the culture of reading.
Brigada Pagbasa is a nationwide reading movement for the Filipino children and
will serve as a platform to synergize efforts and resources to address education-
related challenges especially on literacy and numeracy.
In consonance with this, and in alliance with the stakeholders in the promotion of
the culture of reading in the province, this District Online Two-Day Teachers and
Parents Training on Beginning Reading and Developmental Reading for
Elementary Grades is being conducted.
This activity aims to retrain, refresh, retool teachers, administrators and parents
as reading partners on more research-based strategies and approaches in
teaching reading.
It is the hoped that all of the participants will be able to learn these strategies so
that it will be applied in the teaching of reading in order to achieve the goal of our
DepEd na Bawat Bata Bumabasa.
