CHANDRASEKHARA SCHEME FOR SAMSKARAS - WEDDING

min Welfare Corporation (ABC) is introducing “Chandrasekhara
Chandrasekhara Scheme for
Samskaras - Wedding”,, in order to encourage vaivahikasamskara (marriage) between Brahmin boys
engaged full-time
time in Brahminic professions (purohits, pujaris and Vedic pandits) and Brahmin girls
willingly marrying them.. The scheme is named after the former senior seer of

Peetham, Paramacharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati, who strove to uphold and promote the
16 Brahminic Samskarass including upanayanam and marriage
marriage. Under this scheme, ABC will deposit
an amount of Rs. 1.00 Lakh in the joint names of the Brahmin Bride and the Bridegroom whose
livelihood comes from Pourohityyam or Veda Parayanam or Archakatvam,, on their wedding.

Objective

To encourage Brahmin girls to marry Purohit


Purohits, Veda Pandits or Archakas.

Scope

This scheme is applicable for Brahmin girls marrying a Brahmin boy living in Andhra Pradesh,
Pradesh whose
livelihood comes from Pourohityam or Veda Parayanam or Archakatvam

• The applicant (Bride) should have comp


completed 18 years of age at the time of marriage,

• The wedding should have taken place on or after 1st December 2016. The bride must apply
for this scheme within 90 days of the wedding date.
• The Bride and her parents sho
should belong to Brahmin community.
• The Bridegroom should be a resident of Andhra Pradesh and hiss livelihood should come
from Pourohityam

Application Procedure:

• Applicant (bride) should upload the scanned copies (in pdf of maximum 250 kb size each) of
the following documents:
o Aadhar card of the bride.
o Aadhar card of the bridegroom, with residential address in it.
o Caste certificatesissued by a competent authority in the name of the bride, and the
bridegroom (separate certificates).
o Date of Birth proofs of both Bride and Bridegroom
o Passport size photographs (in jpg format) of the applicant (bride) and the bridegroom.
o Marriage invitation card indicating the full details of the wedding muhurtam, venue
and date, a good qualitymarriage photo, and the marriage certificate issued by a
competent registrar/ sub-registrar.
o Passbook copy of SB Account in Andhra Bank or SBI. The account should be jointly in
the names of Bride and Bridegroom.
o Proof of the bridegroom’s professional activity (Pourohityam or Veda Parayanam or
Archakatvam). A pass certificate from appropriate Veda Pathasala or a certificate from
temple authorities about archakatvam or pourohityam.
o A self-declaration by the bridegroom stating that his main occupation is archakatvam,
pourohitya, vedaparayanam or teaching veda, and that he does not have any other full
time job/ profession/ occupation/ or industry.

Selection Procedure

• Short-listing and finalisation of applicants shall be done by the State Level Selection
Committee (SLSC) of ABC.
• A representative of ABC will visit the newly-weds, verify and confirm the details.
• ABC’s State Level Committee is authorised to make exceptions in the eligibility / selection
process and their decision will be final.

Disbursal of Scheme amount

• The scheme amount of Rs. 1 Lakh shall be provided to the Bride in the form of a Fixed
Deposit, with the following conditions:
o The Fixed Deposit / re-investment deposit will be placedjointly in the names of the
applicant (Bride) and her husband (Bride-groom) for a period of 5 years,payable only
on maturity to the former(bride) or survivor and handed over to the Bride.
o Interest accrued on the Fixed Deposit can be payable annually to the joint SB account
of the Bride and Bride-groom.In case of reinvestment deposit, interest will be paid on
maturity along with the Deposit amount.
o Neither pre-mature cancellation nor any loan against the Fixed Deposit is allowed
during the deposit period.

• ABC reserves its right to cancel/withdraw the fixed deposit if i) any of the information given
by the bride or bridegroom is false, or ii) a divorce or legal separation happens between the
applicant and her husband before the maturity date.
