General Instructions:
i) All questions are compulsory.
ii) The question paper has three sections and 15 questions. All questions are compulsory.
iii) Section–A has 7 questions of 2 marks each; Section–B has 6 questions of 3 marks each;
and Section–C has 2 case based questions of 4 marks each

SECTION - A

1. A given length of a wire is doubled on itself and this process is repeated once again. By
what factor does the resistance of the wire change?
or
there are two electric bulbs (i) marked 60W, 220 V and (ii) marked 100 W, 220V. which one of the
two has a higher resistance?

2. The graph between voltage V and I flowing through a conductor at temperature 𝑻𝟏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝟐 is
shown in the figure below. out of 𝑻𝟏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝟐 , which one is greater?

3. How much work is done in moving a charge of 3C from a point of 128 V to a point of
138V?

OR

A lamp rated 100W at 220V is connected to the main electric supply. What current is
drawn from the supply line if the voltage is 220 V?

4. If the current 𝑰 through a resistor is increased by 100% (assume that temperature

remains unchanged), what will be the increase in power dissipated?

5. An electrical circuit is shown below

Find the potential difference across resistance 𝑹𝟏 , 𝑹𝟐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝟑 .

6. (i) How much work is done in moving a charge of 3C across two points having a potential
difference of 15V?

(ii) Find the equivalent resistance between A and B.

7. If a wire of resistance R is melted and recast to half of its length, what will be the new
resistance of the wire?

OR

If three resistance 2𝜴, 3 𝜴 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝟓𝜴 are connected in parallel, will the value of equivalent
resistance be less than 2 𝜴 or greater than 5 𝜴 or lie between 2 𝜴 and 5 𝜴? Explain.

Section - B

8. Several electric bulbs designed to be used on a 220 V electric supply line are rated at
10W. How many lamps are connected in parallel with each other across two wires of 220 V
line, if the maximum allowable current is 15A?

9. A household uses the following electric appliances.

(i) Refrigerator of rating 400 W for 10 h each day.

(ii) Two electric fans of rating 80 W each for 6 h daily.

(iii) Six electric tubes of rating 18W each for 6 h daily.

Calculate the electricity bill for the household for month of June , if cost of electrical
energy is Rs. 3 per unit.

10. Give reason, why

(ii) nichrome is used to make the element of electric heater and

(iii) the 500 W bulb glows with more brightness than a 200 W bulb ?

11. (i) State three factors on which the heat produced by an electric current depends.

(ii) Calculate the heat produced when 96000 C of charge is transferred in 1 h through a
potential difference of 50 V.
