2. All questions are compulsory.
3. Section A comprises of 5 questions of 2 marks each.
4. Section B comprises of 6 questions of 3 marks each.
5. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each.

Section - A

1. A survey was conducted by a group of students as a part of their environmental

awareness programme, in which they collected the following data regarding the number of
plants in 20 houses in a locality. Find the mean number of plants per house

2. Write the median class for the following frequency distribution:

3. If AB is a chord of a circle with centre O. AOC is a diameter and AT is the tangent at A

as shown in figure. Prove that ∠BAT = ∠ACB.

OR
PA and PB are tangents to the circle with centre O from an external point P, touching the
circle at A and B respectively. Show that the quadrilateral AOBP is cyclic.
4. A tangent PQ at a point P of a circle of radius 5 cm meets a line through the centre O at
a point Q so that OQ = 12 cm. Length PQ is

5. Consider the following distribution of daily wages of 50 worker of a factory.

Find the mean daily wages of the workers of the factory by using an appropriate method.

Section - B

6. In the given figure, PQ is a chord of length 8 cm of a circle of radius 5 cm and centre O.

The tangents at TP and TQ intersect at point T. Find the length of TP.

7. As observed from the top of a 150 m tall light house, the angles of depression of two ships
approaching it are 30° and 45°. If one ship is directly behind the other, find the distance
between the two ships.
OR
If the altitude of the Sun is 60°, what is the height of a tower which casts a shadow of length
30 m?

8. The following distribution gives the state-wise teacher-student ratio in higher secondary
schools of India. Find the mode.
9. Prove that the angle between the two tangents drawn from an external point to
a circle is supplementary to the angle subtended by the line-segment joining the
points of contact at the centre.

10. The lengths of 40 leaves of a plant are measured correct to the nearest millimeter, and
the data obtained is represented in the following table :

Find the median length of the leaves.

11. Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite each other on either side of the
road, which is 80 m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of
elevation of the top of the poles are 60° and 30º, respectively. Find the height of
poles and the distance of the point from the poles.
OR
A TV tower stands vertically on a bank of a canal. From a point on the other bank
directly opposite the tower the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 60°.
From another point 20 m away from this point on the line joining this point to
the foot of the tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 30°. Find
the height of the tower and the width of the canal.

Section -C

12. The following table gives the distribution of the life time of 400 neon lamps:
Find the median life time of a lamp.

13. Mr. Vinod is a pilot in Air India. During the Covid-19 pandemic, many Indian
passengers were stuck at Dubai Airport. The government of India sent special aircraft to
take them. Mr. Vinod was leading this operation. He is flying from Dubai to New Delhi
with these passengers. His airplane is approaching point A along a straight line and at a
o
constant altitude h. At 10:00 am, the angle of elevation of the airplane is 20 and at 10:01
o
am, it is 60 .

i. What is the distance 'd' is covered by the airplane from 10:00 am to 10:01 am if the speed
of the airplane is constant and equal to 600 miles/hour?
ii. What is the altitude 'h' of the airplane? (round answer to 2 decimal places).

14. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend

supplementary angles at the centre of the circle.
OR
If tangents PA and PB from a point P to a circle with centre O are inclined to each
o
other an angle of 80 , then find ∠POA

15. There are two temples on each bank of a river. One temple is 70 m high. A man, who is standing
on the top of 70 m high temple, observed that the angle of depression of the top and the foot of
o o
other temple are 30 and 60 respectively. (Take 𝟑 = 1.732)
i) Draw a labelled figure on the basis of the given information and the approximate width of the
river.
ii) Find the approximate height of the other temple
