General Instructions :
1. The question paper contains four sections – A , B , C and D.
2. Section A consists of 5 questions of 1 mark each.
3. Section B consists of 5 questions of 2 mark each.
4. Section C consists of 5 questions of 3 mark each.
5. Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 mark each.

SECTION A
Answer the following :
1. What will be the angle of elevation if the length of the shadow of a man is equal to the
height of man ?
2. Look at the following table below.

What will be the value for A and B ?

3. There are lottery tickets labelled numbers from 1 to 500. I want to find the number
which is most common in the lottery tickets. Which measure of central tendency do
I need to use?
4. In ∆ ABC, AB = 5cm, L ACB = 30 ̊, then find AC and BC.

5. Find the mode of the following data.

SECTION B
Solve the following :
6. Draw a line segment AB = 8 cm. Take a point P on AB such that AP : PB = 3 : 4.
7. If the mean and the mode of a frequency distribution is 45.9 and 46.2 respectively, find
the median.
8. From a point 20 m away from the foot of the tower, the angle of elevation of the top of
the tower is 30°. Then find the height of the tower
OR
8. A tree breaks due to storm and the broken part bends so that the top of the tree touches
the ground making an angle 30 ̊ with it. The distance between the foot of the tree to the
point where the top touches the ground is 8 m. Find the height of the tree.
9. Look at the following table below.

Find the median class in the above data.

10. A ladder makes an angle of 60° with the ground, when placed along a wall. If the foot of
ladder is 8 m away from the wall, then find the length of ladder.

SECTION C
Solve the following :
11. From the top of a 7 m high building, the angle of elevation of the top of a cable tower is
60° and the angle of depression of its foot is 45°. Determine the height of the tower.
12. Draw two concentric circles of radii 3 cm and 5 cm. Taking a point on outer circle
construct the pair of tangents to the other. Also write the measure of the length of a
tangent so formed.
13. A 1.2 m tall girl spots a balloon moving with the wind in a horizontal line at a height of
88.2 m from the ground. The angle of elevation of the balloon from the eyes of the girl
at any instant is 60°. After some time, the angle of elevation reduces to 30° (see Fig).
Find the distance travelled by the balloon during the interval.

14. The following distribution shows the daily pocket allowance of children of a locality.
The mean pocket allowance is Rs 18. Find the missing frequency f.

14. If the median of the distribution given below is 28.5, find the values of x and y.

15. Case Study :

A group of students of class X visited India Gate on an education trip. The teacher and
students had interest in history as well. The teacher narrated that India Gate, official
name Delhi Memorial, originally called All-India War Memorial, monumental
sandstone arch in New Delhi, dedicated to the troops of British India who died in wars
fought between 1914 and 1919.The teacher also said that India Gate, which is located at
the eastern end of the Rajpath (formerly called the Kingsway), is about 138 feet (42
metres) in height.

i) What is the angle of elevation if they are standing at a distance of 42m away
from the monument?
ii) They want to see the tower at an angle of 60 ̊. So, find the distance at which
they should stand?
iii) What is the angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the
object viewed is below the horizontal level called ?

16. The following table shows the ages of the patients admitted in a hospital during a year:

Find the mode and the mean of the data given above.
17. The distribution below gives the weights of 30 students of a class. Find the median
weight of the students.

18. Draw a pair of tangents to a circle of radius 5 cm which are inclined to each other at an
angle of 60°. Write the steps of construction.
OR
18. Draw a line segment AB of length 8 cm. Taking A as centre, draw a circle of radius 4
cm and taking B as centre, draw another circle of radius 3 cm. Construct tangents to
each circle from the centre of the other circle. Write the steps of construction.
19. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower
observes a car at an angle of depression of 30°, which is approaching the foot of the
tower with a uniform speed. Six seconds later, the angle of depression of the car is found
to be 60°. Find the time taken by the car to reach the foot of the tower from this point.
