1. Why did you select this method?

-We chose a stratified random sampling method because we think that it


is the best method that we could use considering that our research is
intended for the farmers, youths and market vendors. We all know that
stratified random sampling is a method of sampling that involves the
division of a population into a smaller sub-groups known as strata. In
our research, our population consists of 20 individuals and it is divided
into smaller sub-groups which are the farmers, vendors and youths.

- Our research is a mixed quantitative and qualitative study since we


both used descriptive style and measurements for us to have a better
and more thorough or accurate answer that could prove our research
study.

2. What is unique about your sample?

-Our sample is unique due to fact that we chose our sample based on who will
benefit from our research. Aside from that, our population is only 20 and with
that small population, getting our samples is much more convenient, cost-
effective, manageable and reliable.

3. How does your study address the research gap?

- Since the beginning of formulating this research, we have always looked at


how we can address the problem on the low cost of unhusked rice. Due to this
problem, we have come up with a solution that, we thought, can give a profit to
our farmers.

4. How do you know if your instrument is valid and /or reliable?

- We knew that our instrument is valid and reliable since we personally


conducted the survey and have observed the respondents reaction to our
product. In addition to that, the research questions that we made was
intentionally formulated to fit and address our research problem.

5. What is your statement of the problem?

- We have three statements of the problem.

First, What are the characteristics of the commercial rice varieties ( Double diamond,

M3, Rc160) in terms of:


a) Taste

b) Physical appearance

c) Aroma

Second , What are the characteristics of the rice wine produced by the commercial

varieties of rice in terms of:

a) Taste

b) Color

c) Smell

d) Commercial availability

And lastly , Which among the varieties of rice has a best wine produced based on

sensory evaluation?

7. What is your research problem?

- Our research problem is about the utilization of various commercial rice


varieties in the production or rice wine.

8. What will happen if the problem is not addressed?

- Research is basically conducted to respond to a problem, whether to solve it


or to understand it better. Without the problem being addressed, it would only
mean that we failed in addressing the issue we want to find solution to.

9. What are your goals?

- Our goals for the research is to give alternative and sustainable livelihood the

farmers, and market vendors aside from their daily source of income.

9. What do you hope to find out?

- What we hope to find out is if we can use commercially available rice to


produce rice wine and what variety of rice would be the best rice wine through
sensory evaluation and over-all rice wine product assessment to the
respondent.
10. Why did you choose this particular title for your research?
- We chose the title “ Utilization of Various Commercial Rice Varieties in the
production of Rice Wine” because our research attempts to explain, describe
and compare the different varieties or rice to be turned into rice wine. We have
attempted to provide an explanation for booth of the cases through the use of
products we made along with describing its overall assessment in terms of
color, odor, appearance and etc.

11. What is the scope of your study?


- Our study is limited to the residents of M’lang, Cotabato, specifically for the
farmers, market vendors and youths but due to the restrictions of the covid-19
pandemic, we decided to our sample population into 20 individuals only and in
20 individuals, 8 of them are farmers, 6 are market vendors and 6 are youths.
12. Who will be most interested in your research?
- Since our research involves rice grains, beverages and markets, we think
that farmers and youths will be interested on our research , as well as the
market vendors if they are interested to sell locally produced rice wine.
13. What is the validity of your findings?
-In our research, we are sure about the validity of our findings as reliable since
we conducted a face-to-face survey and in addition to that, the wine that we
used on the research is literally made by us, researchers.

14. What sources did you use for data collection?

- To understand the utilization of various commercial rice varieties in the


production of rice wine, we interviewed 20 individuals in a span of 1 week.
Additionally, we referred to articles and thesis by authors who had previously
conducted such studies related to our topic especially on the part when we
personally made the rice wine.

15. What are the dependent and independent variables in your research?
- The dependent variable in our study is the quality of the rice wine and the
independent variables are the 3 commercial rice varieties and sensory
evaluation in terms of taste, color, odor, physical appearance and the
commercial availability.
16. What sampling technique did you use?
- We use stratified random sampling to dive the population of our into 3 groups
or 3 strata, namely as the farmers, the market vendors and youth.
17. What areas do you suggest for further research?
- In our research on “ Utilization of Various commercial rice varieties in the
production of rice wine”, we discovered that this can be a great sustainable
another source of income for the farmers and market vendors.
