GOYO
Question:

1. What can you say about the different events that happened in Philippine history as shown
in the movie Goyo? Give your analysis.

Answer:

Based on my observations and analysis of the film "Goyo ang batang heneral." The history of
the Philippines is filled with complex and immeasurable events. When I watched it, I saw the
various stances of those fighting for the state. Some fight for their own benefit and support the
uplifting (President), even if it means going against the constitution. There are also those who
fight for their country. I've also noticed that political dynasties are appointed based on their
powerful family name. As a result, conflict and unequal positioning will occur. The army is led by
someone who does not recognize basic military knowledge and does not even recognize basic
war knowledge. While those beneath him are ordinary citizens who put their lives at risk for the
sake of our country. I also noticed that the ranks are decorated to attract attention to the name.
"People are only represented by two levels: fear and self-interest." – Napoleon said. These are
some of the revelations I discovered. Filipinos are not loyal to our own country due to fear and
self-interest.

Furthermore, most of the events and scenarios depicted in the show. In my opinion, this is how
most Filipinos are today. There is no unity, no assertion, and also an egocentric people. We
become slaves to our own emotions. The show also reflects our country's current problem:
Chaotic leadership and some politicians who know nothing but to fool us and our own country

for the sake of themselves. I'll call this a peace without independence. When Mabini asked,
"Can all Filipinos hear the truth without feeling embarrassed?" I honestly believe we have that
attitude. That even if something is true, even if it touches our conscience or our feelings, we will
ignore it for our own sake. Isn't it ironic?

In my opinion, the Philippines' history is full of lessons, mistakes, love for the country, and
loyalty to whatever is being fought for. Many failures are highlighted in Goyo's film, but the most
notable is that Filipinos frequently prioritize pleasure over dignity for the country. We are
astounded by the well-dressed people and the valiant warriors. But we have forgotten that we
need soldiers to fight. “Dignidad ang kabayaran sa pansamantalang nakabubulag na Kalayaan.”
