For my own narrative:

- As the narrative was very close to the final version, so the energy on the narrative itself
was focused on correcting typos and polishing up some sentences. Extra clarification
information was considered for my narrative. However, it sorts of disrupted the flow of the
story, so it was not put into the final narrative.
- In order to attract readers, instead of using pictures/images for decoration purposes,
cartoons were drawn by myself. These cartoon in general are very simple but reflecting
different scenarios in my narrative. Moreover, the tone of this cartoon was designed to be
bright and positive, which reflects the tone of the narrative itself. The size of these three
cartoons was deliberately designed so that they can fit into the narrative instead of just
taking up the empty space on my page.
For the Almanac:
- Purposed the idea of providing consultation for individuals' narrative with the most basic
guidelines instead of taking over the design for each narrative. This gives everyone the
maximum freedom to operate while ensuring some basic qualities for each narrative such
as reader-friendlyiendly.
- Helped adjusted individuals’ design (such as Zher, Haolong, Yuze’s and other pages)
such as the contrast between the background the narrative, the alignment across pages,
images’ credit. Instead of providing new ideas or designs, I help enhanced their designs
based on individuals’ ideas.
- Took charge of the design for multiple pages such as
• Editor’s Note,
• Technology and policy pages,
• Anti-Crispr Ad,
• Tea Ad
• health care section page
• Agriculture and Environmental Pages
- Collaborated with peers in the graphic team across various subjects including
• Other sections pages (those I was not in charge of) layout and background images
selection
• The first-page cover image/background selection and design
• Font, font size guidelines
• Adjusted narratives’ font and proofreading for finalising the almanac
- Contributed to the design for the table of content. Purposed the idea of using images
from each section.
- Being reader-centric. Personally, it is important to think in the reader shoes and make the
almanac as reader-friendly as possible. Instead of just increasing my contribution for the
sake of marks, I always prioritised making necessary designs that drawn readers’ attraction,
increased the readability without making the design shines over the narratives. I also
consider the reader experience of reading the hardcopy of this almanac as the presentation
and reading experience is different when reading the electronic copy on screens comparing
with that on paper. The usage of some colours, backgrounds, images, or layout might be
fine on a screen but also might be tiring and hard to follow for the reader if it is a hard copy.
My design and my effort always prioritised reader-experience.

- Contributed to maintain the relationship inside the graphic teams and with other peers. As
after narratives were being marked and released for review, I found out some peers are
being discouraging/judgemental unnecessarily, I believe it is important to think in other’s
shoes and appreciate individuals’ creativity. Commenting and providing feedback or
personal view is perfectly fine as long as it is constructive. Therefore, whenever someone
reached out to the graphic teams, I also tried to listen and understand what my peers hoped
to achieve. Therefore, without discouraging my peer, I always tried to help them to think
differently such as thinking about the coherency between individuals’ design, how to use the
design to reflect some of the elements of each section or their narratives through images,
or colour or page layout etc.
