ACTIVITY 1 (warm up)

Aim : - to do the warm up
- to introduce the subject of the lesson
Procedure: 1.The teacher checks the homework and guides the students
in correcting it
2. The T gives the Ss handouts with the lyrics of the song

check their answers together with the T.

4. The T introduces the title of the lesson and asks the Ss to
identify the first conditional in the lyrics of the song.
Interaction: T-SS, SS-T.
Timing: 7 min.

ACTIVITY 2:
Aim: - to introduce the first conditional (if/ unless clause + 'll (will)/
won't)
Procedure: 1. The T asks some Ss to write the first conditional
structures found in the song on the blackboard.
2. The Ss, with the help of the T, elicit the rules specific to
the first conditional. These are written on the blackboard and in the Ss
notebooks. The Ss also elicit in what situations this structure is to be
used.
Interaction:T-SS, SS-T, SS-SS.
Timing: 5 min.

ACTIVITY 3:
Aim: - to practice the first conditional (if/ unless clause + 'll (will)/ won't)
Procedure: 1. The T asks the Ss to elicit different superstitions that they
may now. Then, she gives them handouts with less known superstitions.
2. The Ss read the task and complete it. Then, they read their
answers to the whole class and correct them with their T if necessary.
Interaction: T-SS, SS-T, SS-SS.
Timing: 10 min.

ACTIVITY 4:
Aim: - to introduce the first conditional (imperative clause with
conjuction "or")
- to practice the first conditional
- to rephrase sentences using different structures
Procedure: 1. The T writes a sentence on the blackboard (If you aren't
careful with that knife, you'll cut yourself) and asks the Ss to rephrase it
using unless and or.
2. The Ss elicit their answers. The correct ones are written
on the blackboard and, then, the Ss elicit the rules for each of the newly
introduced structures.
2
3. The T guides the Ss towards ex. 8, page 51 in the Student's
Book.
4. The Ss read the task and rephrase the first sentence
together with the T. Then, the Ss are asked to rephrase the other sentences
individually. After the completion of the task, the Ss read their answers
aloud.
Interaction: T-SS, SS-T.
Timing : 15 min.

ACTIVITY 5 ('Tic, tac, toe'):

Aim: - to rephrase sentences using different structures
- to consolidate knowledge
Procedure: 1. The T splits the Ss into 5 groups and explains the task.
Then, she pins up 9 sentences on the blackboard that the Ss should
rephrase using the word between brackets. The Ss are given 5 minutes to
write the new sentences in their notebooks.
2. Each group is given a chance to choose the sentence they
want to rephrase. If their answer is correct, a S comes and marks the
sentence with an X or a 0. The group to form the first line wins.
Interaction: T-SS, SS-T, SS-SS, GW.
Timing: 10 min.

ACTIVITY 6:
Aim: - to provide feedback from the students
- to assign the homework
