Gifted and Talented
To develop content that goes deeper in a
students knowledge and expression rather than a
wider and more labor intensive task.
This strategy should be designed in parallel with
the creation of regular classroom curriculum. If
gifted and talented students may be quick to
meet the standards on the surface level, this
strategy allows them to reach deeper into
content for a rewarding learning experience that
coordinates with their peers.
1. When introducing content or curriculum,
be prepared with information and
assessments which reach deeper in to
the details and motives for skills and the
content.
2. When students are engaging with
content and a gifted and talented student
is not fully engaged with the material for
challenge purposes, introduce material or
resources that can give the student a
richer view of the detail and assess their
understanding with a more detail or
expressive oriented formative.
3. The student will not be given more work,
rather they will be given a richer resource
to meet their need to be challenged and
fully express understanding of the
content.
This strategy can be assessed by on the questions
and evidences we ask of students to show
comprehension with the content. Rather than
requiring more from gifted and talented
students, we give the opportunity and resource
that allows for deeper connection and allow the
opportunity to reflect the depth of knowledge.
