All India Thal Sena Camp (Boys)

All India Thal Sena Camp is a centrally organised camp which is held every year in the month of
sept.- oct.The venue of the camp is selected by the DGNCC/Training(A) according to the
requirement of the the competition.It mainly consists of two competitions- one the main Thal Sena
Camp(330marks) includes SDs only and the service shooting competition(120marks) includes
both SDs and JDs.Altogether there will be 45 cadet (33SD+07JD) representing their respective
Directorates in the competition.
The events that are included in TSC (Boys) are:
1. Obstacle course
2. Map reading competition
3. Line and tent area competition
4. Health and hygiene competition
5. Judging distance and filed signal
In addition events like cultural programme and best cadet competition are also included but these
competitions does not contribute any point to the main TSC competition.
Now let us take a close look on the events included in TSC (Boys)
1.Obstacle course:(75 marks)
The obstacle course consists of following obstacles:
a. Straight balance
b. Clear jump
c. Gate vault
d. Zig zag balance
e. High wall
f. Double ditch
g. Right vault
h. Left vault
i. Dam Dama
j. Straight balance
It is a team event and timed competition.It consists of 07 (6+1res.) participant.Time will be
counted from the time the first member crosses the start line and the last member crosses the
finish line.Dress for the competition will be combat dress along with other equipment such as
rifle,pittu,pouch,etc.
2.Map reading competition: (75 marks)
In the map reading competition test conducted are as follows:
a. Map to ground
b. Ground to map
c. Finding own position
Number of cadets participating in
will be 07 (6+1res.).Each cadet will
be given 4min for GR of own pos.
And 3min for map to ground and
ground to map.Full marks will be
given to an individual getting the GR within 100m of specified GR.

3.Line area and tent pitching competition: (50mark)

It is generally the assessment of cadets’ line are in accordance to its proper
cleanliness and maintenance.The assessment includes:
a. General layout and cleanliness of area
b. Display of various orders
c. Neat layout ,maintenance and service
d. Arrangement of refuse disposal
e. Correct uniform and kit layout
Tent pitching competition will be conducted as a part of line area inspection
competition.08 cadet will take part in this competition.In this competition cdts have to
pitch an extendable (4M) tent along with proper layout of kits and other required
equipments.Time given will be 08min after which every 30sec half mark will be
deducted.
4.Health and hygiene competition:(50marks)
It is a competition which is conducted into two parts- written examination and oral
examination.05cdts (4+1res.) take part in this competition.
a. Theory examination – The examination will consist of an objective type
questions covering the syllabus for health and hygiene.The examination
is of 40 marks and its time duration is 1 hour.
b. Oral examination – Cadets will also be assessed through an oral test
.The scope will include any topic from the syllabus of health and
hygiene.It is of 10 mark.
5.Judging distance and field signal:
The competition will be held in two parts:
i. Written test – 40 mark
ii. Practical test-
a.Judging distance-60 mark
b.Field signal-60 mark
A total of 08cdt. Will participate in this competition.All the participants will
have to do the written examination.However for practical test four cadet each
will participate in judging distance and field signal.The written test will be
conducted for a duration of 45min.The practical test will be conducted
simultaneously.At first the total marks is 160 point later on it is reduced to 80.

a.Judging distance – In JD competition each cdt. Will be asked to judge the distance of
three object,one each in far, middle and near distance.
b.Field signal- Each cadet will be asked to indicate three different field signals.

Service Shooting Competition: (120mark)

The service shooting competition includes both SDs and JDs.Total number od cdts participating in
this competition is 17 (10SD+7JD) one is kept reserved in both.The weapon used that will be used
is .22 Mark lll/Mark lV/Sporting/Delux rifle.Each will be give 05 round of bullets which is to be
fired from a distance of 25m/yards.Three types of firing will be done-
a. Grouping
b. Application
b. Snap
Apart form the competition the cdts are also taken for “Delhi Darshan” in which the
cdts. visits various historical places of Delhi like Rajghat,Qutub Minar,Red Fort,etc.
Altogether Thal Sena Camp is a camp filled with adventure, exctiement, thrill,joy,etc.
Here the cdts are physically and mentally made prepared for the various
competitions.So NCC is an ocean of oppurtunities where one can take a dive truly find
his potential.
