• Pipes – are found without original manufacturer traceability and heat

number. Only verified with the MRV number which is hand written.
• Full Plates – sweep-blasting can be done to remove rusted surface.
• Fittings – All the flanges by KOFCO, Korea has to be rejected, as the
manufacturer is blacklisted by Aramco.
• Structural material – No manufacturer tags available. Can be used
based on MRV traceability for structural fabrication.

Requirements for materials as Aramco SAMSS 32-SAMSS-004

Following below are the requirement for plates by Aramco

1. Pipes: (as per 01-SAMSS-43/01-SAMSS-35)

• All pipe materials shall comply form 175 of Aramco inspection requirement.
• Again, as describe in clause 1 there is same testing requirements to be followed for
pipes as well.
• Also, authentication letter is required from manufacturer for pipes which are
purchased by stockiest.
• Again 1/2T is mandatory & transverse testing.
• Post weld heat treatment.

Action required to use Pipe materials

1. We cannot avoid testing of materials.
2. If we want to use these pipes there will lot of testing which will be revealed later on.
3. The offered pipe itself cannot be used in Aramco jobs

Conclusion: Based on Inspection.

1. First of all, pipe material offered to us cannot be used for Aramco jobs as they in full
non-compliance to form 175 of Aramco inspection requirement. First impression is
last impression. If this is the best they have to offer I wonder what will be the worst.
2. Again, cut pipes are very difficult to get them release from Aramco inspector.
3. Manufacture after 5 to 6 years will not give authentication also.
4. Therefore, cut pipes are rejected from our end as there is no marking and it will cost
us further more in testing. And not sure whether we can get the clearance to use
material from client.

2. Plates:
• Different Aramco projects have different requirement such as, Tensile testing &
Impact testing & HIC. These are mainly done by manufacturer while we order
material.
• Tensile & impact are required at 1/2t, stockiest plate does not have these testing.
• Almost all Aramco jobs are sour service, plate need HIC testing.
• Post weld heat treatment & retest of tensile & Impact.

Action required to use Cut & Full Plate:

1. We cannot avoid testing of materials.
2. If we want to use these plates there will lot of testing requirements which
will be revealed later on.

Conclusion: Based on Inspection

1. Since there is no or lack of marking, hereby cut plates are rejected from our side.
2. Full plates can be used but as describe above there will, lot of testing.
3. MIS has transferred marking but internal stamp transfer are not accepted by client
Inspector resulting in rejection of plates.
4. Any way we cannot offer old materials for new projects it is not good for reputation.

3. Flanges & Fittings: (as per 02-SAMSS-11 & 02-SAMSS-005)

• Almost same requirement is required for flanges as well,

Action required to use flanges & fittings.

1. There is no action plan to use these materials, as destructive testing is
impossible.
2. Destructive testing will make them useless.

Conclusion:
1. We cannot use them if the MTC does not meets requirement, we will be help us and
finally they had to be scrap.
2. Also flange offered, the manufacturer of flange is black listed by Aramco. So there is
no way we can use them.
3. Further investigation is needed to segregate Korea flanges and to remove them out
of quotation.

Final Conclusion:
Material can be use or may not be use at all.
It will take at least 10 to 15 years to use these materials, even though we will not be
able to utilize them even 50%.
By this span of time they will be scrap.
